[Penguin update] How I recovered my position

it's also happen to me, before this my site was #1 in SERP for my homepage, suddenly it was dropped too much and i don't know what is going on, i try to find the reason why and i think my website was hit by google SERP filter because i can't find my homepage anymore on google. Can someone help me how to recover from SERP filter?

I can confirm that sites with good menu bars and low keyword density survived latest update way better. that's probably the first thing you need to do to help your rankings to come back

I made some change to my site, change menu link anchor text, change keyword density from 4,83% to 2,50%. Today my site is back on first page, in #10 position.
Still holding strong? This is a pretty critical change. ~50% or so. Thanks much for the info and keep us updated. I anticipate many changes like this are taking places this year. There's so much going on in California right now, paradigms are shifting.

Suggestion... Do Blog commenitng and Article submission and add some Good quality articles on your site.. it will be help to you to increase SERP !

I have added about 200 unique/original articles to my site and this not helped my money pages recover...I will say that these pages target super long tail keywords and they all rank #1 or #2 so this is good, but these pages don't produce income for me...

I will continue to add unique content to my site in hopes that it will eventually pay off, maybe I need to add more...who knows, google is not a friend of small business....

Did you actually get a response from Google after submiting the reconsideration request?

I was thinking the same thing..did they respond?

Is it possible that you gained your position back because of the reconsideration forum you submitted?

hire good content writer and write unique content with using keyword, you should be use Meta description in 150-160 char, 10 keyword and title in 68 char, Keyword optimization are very important.

Why are you advising someone to spend money hiring a writer and using those variables, when none of us as yet really have completely figured out Penguin and the real nature of the change? There are numerous posts of people with whitehat sites containing well written unique content, which have been hit very hard by penguin.

Advise to anyone else - if someone makes a claim, disregard it unless they have substantial data to prove it correct.

I think spun articles are still effective, because my spun "yet high" quality articles are accepted from high authority sites like ezinearticles, amazines, infobarrel, and even guest blogs. As long as it's readable and easy to understand they are still quality. The problem here is I always take 1 to 2 hours just to spin 1 article and processed to grammar checker and copyscape. I always spin once and not spun 1 article to 10 or 20 article variations which are considered poor quality.. so far rankings are not so good but my visits increased by 10% after the penguin update.

This is interesting. I've not made any changes on-site but have done a lot of links with a lot of anchor text diversity and for those sites, the rankings seem to be shuffling up and down (settled for about 36 hours a couple of days ago, now back shuffling).

Still, it's just for about 3-4 sites so definitely not conclusive data. I'm still trying tests on a number of sites to form any opinion but this is very interesting. Keep us updated on what happens next.

The key for spun articles is to be able to produce, #1) a fairly good number of 'unique' articles and #2) a fairly good readability percentage. The first one is for the search engines and the second one for longevity.

I've been working with articles -- not just after this update -- that are really, really well spun. I seriously don't think spun articles are any reason for a drop in the rankings.

Yes they reply this:

We reviewed your site and found no manual actions by the webspam team that might affect your site's ranking in Google. There's no need to file a reconsideration request for your site, because any ranking issues you may be experiencing are not related to a manual action taken by the webspam team.

I am now on #9 on first page.

I got other sites penalized. Wanna wait untill next week to see if come back to #3. Then I try to change link menu and keyword density on other sites.

If someone has experienced something similar could share here...

I tried the changes on one of my sites and it moved to page 2 in google over night. Now I will wait and see if it gets back to page 1.
