They've been talking about it for months, and its finally released. Not the most ideal tool in the world, but it looks like it could provide a decent amount of help in recovery. Hopefully it will help those stubborn sites get a move on it.

It says they will take a disavowed link as a "very strong recommendation" not to count it. He says its much better to get the link removed, but if that's not possible; this is the next best option. He also mentions that this should be used as a last resort, and that the majority of people will not be needing to use it. However, on a BH forum and in the IM community, the percentages will be much higher than a normal group.

So yes, in a sense, it could be used to disavow links that were from a negative SEO campaign.
 
Yeah, I agree. I don't trust this just yet. This tool could be used to single out sites.
 
Hmm, think I'm going to try this on one of my sites and see what happens.
 
In one word, build quality backlinks and you are good ;)
 
Anyone actually trying this tool?
I tried to submit list, but submit button is grayed out. And when I choose "Edit list" it brings me to a Google 404 page:-)
Did you test this Matt?
 
Before I use this, I will wait for other webmasters to test it. Why? Because this looks really fishy to me.
 
Great, now the first time a newb has a rankings drop he has the opportunity to snitch on his provider. I gotta give it to Google, they are devious bastards.

As if Google was having trouble figuring out who the spammy link providers are.... Ask ALN/BMR.

Why did Google release this instead of just devaluing the crap links? Good question.

Bottom line is that we have a cleanup tool and I'm already using it to try to clean up some sites suffering from recent algo updates. If they don't get cleaned up, they might as well go bankrupt and get in the line for welfare checks.
