Well, most of them at least. Sad too, since I just hit the $45/day mark a while back. Now, I'm back to making $10/day. $15 if I'm lucky. I really hate this penguin update. Over 240 articles, each containing over 300 words, all unique and hand written, just blown out of the water just like that. I'm not giving up, but this really hurt me.

I have no idea how to recover since most of my traffic was from long tail keywords, and I have too many longtails to just backlink a few, since it would seem unnatural as soon as I were to start.

Any tips guys? I really don't want to let this site go, so leaving it behind is out of the question.

The small and medium size sites has almost 0 chance after penguin. And your site is small one.

Google wants you to use adwords for traffic.

You have got to be kidding me. There has to be a way. I had 10,000 visitors/day, so no way was this a small site. Now it's at 1,000 visitors/day. There just has to be a way.

Anchor text diversification for your log tails, instead of linking like this "long tail keyword" try stuff like "best long tail keyword" "coolest long tail keyword" etc, also use generic links like click here, site, article etc

How exactly can I target over 200 longtails at once though? I can't just do one longtail, correct? On top of that, each article targets a different longtail, so do I just backlink that one article?

Think about syndication and building properties for chunks of your articles you could use to backlink with authority.

Say your selling Blue Widgets, build a legit blogspot blog about Big Blue Widgets and reference the 20 or so articles that talk about it. Its much easier to backlink a few properties that encompass blocks of your articles rather than individually backlinking each article.

Do you think this will work though? I'm asking because I don't really want to waste more time than I already did. Also, when you say referencing 20 or so articles, I write 20 separate articles on the web 2.0 too, correct? Or do I create, let's say, 5 articles, and each have 4 links back to the money site?

I will say that, for now, your rankings might improve again. I got hit and recovered naturally :)

But.... congratulations on reaching $45 p/d at one point! That is fantastic :)

My advice is to take this time to now move away from Google.

I did this myself when EZA got deranked. Harsh but it taught me a lesson.

Now I move away from Google. F**K Matt Cutts, punishing white hat sites like mine and yours. Now I raid traffic from other sites.

Penguin killed a lot of my long tails too. Cut my income in half.

10000 visitors a day and you were only raking in $45 a day. How are you monetizing? Seems kind of low if its adsense

I would try others forms of monetization, buysellads banners, build a list with an optin in your web or directly sell in flippa right now

Your problem is in your content. You need longer articles, 300 is just too damn short. You need media, like images or video, and value by social proof (fb likes, tweets and shares)

What niche were you in? 10k visitors for $45 a day is very low.

I've got a site that's 800+ pages now and the way I do it is just a scrapebox blast to the whole shebang. Look for the puppybox service (by apekillape). 10,000 links to 240 pages will be about 41 links per page, that's not gonna hurt you especially with a large site and drip feeding. I know he lets you use unlimited urls and keywords as long as you format them correctly, just ask. I like to spend time going through my analytics and webmasters to find out the top 4 keywords that send traffic to each page and then use those as the anchor along with the written out url for the page (site.com/flowers/rose.html) and main url "site.com". It takes tons of time but it's worth it to target the keywords that are already sending traffic.

With volume it's hard to focus on so many keywords, here you get decent results from 41 links divided by 6 anchors is about 7 links of each anchor per page. This is obviously for long tails, I would use more involved strategies for decent traffic keywords.

I agree with longer articles. If I were you I would pick out 15 long tail pages. The first 5 change your onpage optimization to be more LSI friendly instead of exact match (if you currently have exact match). Second 5, build a few backlinks, but don't change onpage. Third 5, change onpage and backlink.

Check your rankings after a few weeks for those pages. Continue forward with what is working.

Also, I didn't include a social test...so you can add that in the mix too.

If you are going to continue to use WH SEO as a branch (note, I advise it only as a branch, not as the trunk of your traffic and monetization plan), I'd write longer articles, say 400-500 words, with one article a bit longer, along the lines of 750-1000 words. One easy way to do this is to write two 400-500 word articles as a kind of two-parter, meaning they could be combined into one article so as to be the 'master' content on the site for the keyword, but the two could stand apart if you wanted them to.

Write 5-10 new articles per micro niche site, with two of them written as the combinable master article, then manually re-write each article twice. Those rewrites should provide a sufficient core of additional unique content to submit as Web 2.0 and directory articles, wikis, document sharing posts, press releases and guest blog posts. The re-writes can have a mix of generic anchors and variations on the longtail kw anchors to throw off the Penguin hammer.

If I understand what you are saying correctly, this is exactly how myself and a couple reputable members here would say is the way to build a long lasting authority site.

Eg. I have a site that is carparts.com. i have several hundred inner pages carparts.com/muffler targeting "muffler", and carparts.com/engine-block targeting "engine block" etc. Build backlinks to each url for its keyword.
