Penguin 1.1 slapped me like a bitch

Hey everyone,

After the original Penguin update I was as happy as a pig in shit, because my site jumped to position #1 for most of my main KW's and on to page 1 for almost all of the others. My main competition vanished overnight and have shown no signs of coming back.

However, today I checked my site again and it looks like that little f'in penguin doesn't like it anymore. I have gone from #1 to #10 for my main keyword, some have dropped to page 2, page 3, page 6 and some are gone altogether.

I know I am bitter but I think that the search results look even shitter now than they did after the first update. There are sites ranking for my keywords that are not related to the niche in the slightest. I am not going to pretend that I know what to do about it so I am going to do absolutely nothing and see what bright ideas google come up with over the next few weeks.

yep , this update slapped some of my sites too :(
 
Funny thing is I haven't done any link building or anything since the last penguin update so I am guessing that is is something that was done months ago that has caused this. Google are so unpredictable at the moment. If they keep doing things like this every month then it really will kill SEO as we know it because the truth of the matter is that nobody knows what to do to please google anymore.

Slapped like a bitch is more like getting knocked out of the top 100 for everything, you still have a lot of hope, at least for your main keyword.

My biggest competition keyword was ranked #3 and now isn't in top 100 so who knows.
 
One of my sites that was slapped pretty hard on the first Penguin update came back yesterday morning for a ton of keywords only to be completely wiped out by the evening. You never know, they may be still tweaking it.
 
I got slapped like a little bitch too. At first I thought it was because I installed reviewazon plugin but since alot of other peeps got bitch slapped also I guess it was the penguin. The site is in the entertainment niche and I post about 10 original articles a week. It's hard to keep motivated, and keep working on a site when your traffic goes from averaging 2000 pageviews a day down to 200 or below. But I'm going to push through it and keep posting.
 
my site came back with this refresh, every time I check my SERPs I cross my fingers and hope for the best...
 
It seems a periodic burst of updates that will keep on punishing sites. Looks quite weird and sometimes brutal also.
 
I got slapped so hard I am still hunting for my teeth. Used to be 143 KY number 1 in Google, and now 32 in on the front page. One of my sites is down to 2 visitors a day....

Looks like you found the problem yourself.
 
Well another story of how unpredictable Google currently is :)

Penguin is an algorithmic change, so if will not be lifted unless you make the necessary modifications to avoid the algorithm.

Yeah, you have a month in pergatory...hopefully you will get out next month when they do the refresh again...and hopefully my site won't go back into the penalty...

I know what you mean... my site was hit by the penguin despite the fact that I don't do any link building to it. I have about 20+ articles on the site right now, all original and between 500-2000 words each -- but it's becoming really hopeless to keep writing with no progress on the traffic. It seems like the traffic goes more and more down as the days go by.

you mean your site is purely white hat?
you should check if your onpage SEO is over-optimized or not :)
 
yeah, i feel like penguin is a rolling penalty to any site on the internet...just to make everyone doing any seo question what they are doing...

its a big cluster fuck!...
