Penguin 1.0 + 1.1 .... my view!

brace yourselves, the "GOOGLE BUBBLE" is going to burst.

2012 might not be the end of the world but it could be the "END OF GOOGLE". too many updates, too many crappy results, too many unhappy webmasters.

I think google is paving the way for another super SE to take over. Remember this is the Internet where things happen at warp speed. Also remember the "good 'ol days" when Yahoo was supreme and then this little upstart with a blank search page suddenly appeared?

Yeap that's confirm google release Penguin 1.1 , the main focus of these update is web spam , Penguin is described by the firm as an algorithm that will punish webspammers and those violating Google's quality guidelines.

I used to like animals, now I have to explain to my girlfirend why I throw rocks at the penguins at zoo.

If you can't beat them, join them. Tumblr is easy to rank if you use the keyword as your username. Why not set up a username with the keyword you're targeting and then point it to your in-law's site?

I've been exploiting this for a while now. Three of the tumblrs above my site are mine, so all traffic ends up going to my main site.

Certainly this is the best strategy and one that should be utilized. I don't handle SEO for my in-laws site, but something that should be explored by the company that does.

@srishunyata

You are probably right about the freshness factor. It's just odd that freshness is trumping out such a clear case of relevancy in this case.

Moving forward it's important to deoptimize everything.

We've been trained for so long to have perfectly optimized sites, because that's what used to work. The problem was the beast that Google had created as a result of having everyone trying to have "perfect optimization". This meant websites that weren't user friendly, content created for robots instead of users, and so on.

Penguin was created in order to reduce a sites rankings that is BLATANTLY trying to rank for certain keywords. Think of it like this, nobody likes the guy at the party that is loud, talking about himself, and generally being an attention whore. Before, Google was praising this guy and giving him the spotlight. Now, Google wants nothing to do with him.

Don't be that guy.
