At 5 months, your site is still in the 'trust-building' phase, and sudden drops are often just the Google Dance rather than a penalty. Check your Google Search Console 'Manual Actions' tab first; if it’s green, you aren't penalized. Focus on improving your content depth and gaining a few high-quality, relevant backlinks to stabilize your rankings—this is a normal part of the seasoning process for new domains

Normal fluctuation for a new site — not a penalty. Keep publishing content and building links.

This kind of fluctuation is pretty common for newer sites, especially around the 3 to 6 month mark. It doesn’t usually mean a penalty, so keep publishing quality content, improving internal links, and building links naturally and things often stabilize again.

Can't say for sure that it's a penalty but it is indicative, especially on a 5 month old site. New sites often go through periods of volatility while Google tests the pages, adjust rankings, and reevaluates trust. Considering that, it's common to see some early bumps and pullbacks here and there too.
Unless you got a manual action notice (which you should get at times), it's probs just the alrgo doing some recalibration.
Consistency will help there for most part but maybe some changes in strategy might also be in order.
