lets say i've got a similar posts plugin that displays teaser excerpts of similar posts (picked by random) on every page.

is there any seo advantage in doing so or should i rather try to keep my page as static as possible?

or even worse, is this considered duplicate content?

its useful because each of those similar posts is a link to the other posts. also it is not duplicate content unless the excerpts are long and they make out the majority of the content on the page.

As far as I know it's good for several reasons:

    - stronger internal linking
    - you have more content on each page
    - better user experience, lower bounce rate

    I agree with "webmast".

The better user experience is the key.

I've never had a problem with this. I like a combination of hard internal crosslinks and randomized internal links on every page.
