Im trying to rank #1 for a particular keyword. Is it possible to get google to penalize the current top site?

I was thinking about sending mass spam backlinks, all with the exact same anchor text using scrapebox, in hopes that google will recognize it as spam and lower the ranking for that site.

Would this work?

You won't get much help here with that one.Beat him fairly by simply being better than them.
I would only so this sort of thing if I don't get paid and have done it once.I would not do this just because a site is above me.

it would work if you u wanna be a douche that is what i think

And it can also backfire and just make his site stronger.

Seriously, just do it fairly. And if you direct Google to check the keywords you're trying to rank for, there's a good change they check bunch of other sites as well and penalize you too.

I think when a site is STRONG in the eyes of google...

and all of a sudden it going to get a penalty...

I think a human reviewer takes a look at it...

then figures if it was the site or some competitor trying to fuk with it.

cause if CNN.com all of sudden has 100k porn backlinks... I do not think google is going to penalize it.

Invest in your site , investing in his/her site may backfire .

agree, but the CNN.com example is way off here

I think you would do better to put your efforts into your own site. As others have said it may backfire badly!

This is completley out of order. DO NOT DO IT. YOUR COMPETITOR IS MAYBE JUST LIKE YOU WHO IS JUST TRYING TO MAKE AN HONEST LIVING AND LOOK AFTER HIS FAMILLY OR WHATEVER LIVING EXPENSES EXPENDITURE HE HAS. Imagine if this was you and some idiot come and knocked you off google in an unfair way, and you completly lost all your earnings. It wouldent feel nice would it? So why do it to others??? Do you really think you will prosper like this? like they say what goes around comes around. Treat others like you would like yourself to be treated. Thats my view.

just try to win fair. Build more links....post more quality content and you should be the winner

If your competitor is having strong contents and good positions on google, also if the competitor site is trustworthy, then really it may backfire.

If the competitor site promoted locally, then you can beat them.

Build un-natural links, add links in porn, casino, gambling, adult sites. Make some paid links also with high PR but un-natural.

Spam will penalize the site.

i think thats negative seo and not allowed int his forum.. this forum is for helping true webmasters if you have good skills then come up with you'r efforts..

Yep, I'd be amazed if all the giga-brains at Google just overlooked the plainest simplest fact that you can blast your competitors with spam links and hence lower their status.

There is most probably a pattern they are looking for so to detect this, such as Virus1 suggested. Why would a strong site which never used spam links before all of a sudden commission scrapebox junk comments links? This pattern is easy to detect so I doubt it will ever work.

Ethics aside - in my tests on low-mid competition sites that I owned, exact anchor text match helped the sites rank higher in Bing/Yahoo anyway. So IF the blast helped to knock them off Google (which is a big IF already), the additional traffic they WILL receive from Bing/Yahoo would negate some or all of that effect anyway.

You have been reported for reviving (bumping) very old threads needlessly.

Anyone can see your bumping activity on your profile. here it is:

That proves that you are spamming too.

Bye bye, and blame yourself if you get a ban from this great forum.

That's so low dude. Have some class guy... Good move as a businessman though. Although I don't think you'd personally be able to get Google to lower their ranking through you spamming. Work on your SEO dude. Would you want someone doing that to you? It's better ways to achieve greatness than by being grimy.
