i have a price comparison site for a special niche. i programmed a "little" script that gets the product lists/images/... from the affiliate program and imports all data into my sql database.

all outgoing links are masked so google actually shouldn't see those. the site is 5-6 months old. i did almost no linkbuilding (except: i placed 3-5 links from some of my other sites to this price comparison site. just footer links with the url as anchor text. nothing else.)

the site started to rank better and better every day. 2 days ago i had 100 visitors per day and i was making money with it...

and today my site disappeared... the site is still indexed but when i search for a key where i've been on page 1 of the serps my site moved to the last page of google (i guess cause i can't find it anywhere...)

the g webmaster tools also don't show me any problems... as you can imagine i'm quite pissed.

is there a way out of this penality? just wait a few days/weeks?

The same thing happened to me a little while ago. As soon as google saw my site get 270 unique's in 1 day it pushed me to the bottom and i havent gotten out of it yet. When i search for my keyword my Craigslist ad and my digg submission are in the top 10.

One day i will be about 500th for my keyword and the next day its out of the top 1000 again.

Are you ranked well in yahoo?

yahoo has like 0,5% marketshare in my country so i never take a look at yahoo... i just checked and yes it's ranking on yahoo - but not very good...

i just checked my server-logfiles: the gbot is still indexing subpages of my site every 5 minutes...

Yeah i have the same problem. I am ranked on the 2nd page of yahoo. And i dont think your site would be sandboxed if it was 5-6 months old.

Wait you said you were indexed still. Have you been deindexed now?
You could of been giving a penalty for having duplicate content.

Googs strange, you have just to live with it. they have crappy human editors now. best thing to do is rinse and repeat the success of that site, so anytime some of the sites goes array the others will surely make up for it

my site is still indexed (2200 pages). duplicate content penailty is quite possible as i use the content from the affiliate csv files...

i wait a few weeks now (maybe something happens) and i register another domain to put the site (with changed layout/structure) on it. this time i skip all the content or i try a rewriter. maybe crappy content works better than real content...

@xbox360: yep you're right. i think rinse and repeat is the right way for this project... but it's still frustrating to fight those editors...

try the hyves method and see what pr your site is

ie. type

http://**************yourdomain.com and see what pr (dont make that subdomain just see)
if its 7 your site hasnt been penalized
4 it has
and 0 your google banned

i tried the hyves method yesterday. gave me PR7.

i think the hyves method isn't working any more or google fixed it. whatever site i enter it always tells me PR0...

Google must be up to something this week. The same thing happened to me a day or two ago.

my site seems to start deindexing... today there are only 1900 sites in the index (yesterday 2200 of 42k)... guess i can get kick away the site/domain...

the funny thing is that the googlebot now visits my site every single minute (!!) all day long and looks at every single subpage... wtf is going on??
