Penalised?

OK so I write to posts on my website the other day. Both posts where focusing on easy to rank keywords.

Yesterday both posts are indexed on google..one now ranks number 1 and the other doesn't even rank. Even if I write the keyword plus my brandname the post doesn't rank.

Neither posts I built any backlinks too..

When I search the keyword, and get to about rank 100, the websites are not even about the keyword anymore.

What can onpage seo can be stopping it from ranking?

if your site is new that post will rank for a week or so, and after that your posts will start bouncing in and out of the SERPs for a few more weeks. After that, you either rank where you should rank (if the competition is low and your content is good), or you won't see your site in the SERPs ever again until you build links. This is the usual behavior of new sites, so expect all of these things to happen in the next month.

If your site is not new then your other post doesn't rank probably because it targets competitive keyword, in which case you need to build links to it.

But anyway, if all you have on your site is 2 posts you won't rank after the google dance stops. Thin content sites are not agreeable with google anymore, so you need to slave your life away writing content, or to empty your bank account of your life savings to invest in content writers. There's no other way around this I'm afraid...

onpage? I don't think it's onpage, it's most likely competitive keyword and lack of backlinks. But if it's onpage it would have to be low keyword density and / or low usage of SEO entities / LSI terms, I can't see any other reason. But I still think it's not the onpage that keeps you from ranking.... well, assuming that you did do the onpage properly, obviously
