Pen drive problem:::Help plz!!!

hi guys

i got a kingston 40 GB pen(flash) drive and i think its probably infected with virus but i removed the virus manually....

The actual storage capacity of the flash drive is 39.9 GB ,but used space is 4.4 GB ,free space 35.5 Gb eventhough the flash drive is empty

i am unable to run the pen drive in XP..if i copy songs or movies in folders,then when i insert the pen drive next time the folders are empty and the data is lost....

if i move the songs ,movies to the pen drive without any folders ..ie directly..then the data is not lost...

how to format my pen drive..plz help.....it is urgent ..

check on the manufacturers website on how to format it and possible errors.
