PDFs Ranking on Google

I have seen that there are some PDFs ranking on Google and they also have links in the pdf which is redirecting to their main page so, does it mean that Google leverage PDFs more than content? How to rank PDFs? I have seen many PDFs FAQ related to my keyword. Do they also have a specific ranking factor?

Their are many PDF sharing good sites , most people make contextual content on pdf file then upload it and rank them .
 
Google can index and follow links in pdf files, though I've not seen any study where their effect on ranking was tested, nor have I really done my own tests. Maybe I should.
But in any case a pdf file is the same as any other web page in that it needs links pointing at it to get spidered and to have any chance of ranking. Many in the free online movie and game hack niches use pdfs as a vector for parasite seo - uploading a pdf to an authoritative website instead of posting an article on it. I still see them in the SERPs, maybe not so much for the more competitive keywords any more.

PDF's do rank and index if it is well structured .Ensure PDF has high quality should have relevant content. Try to include your keyword throughout the PDF.

Will Google prefer to rank PDFs then content as some places I have observed PDFs has locked the 1 position in search
 
What niches have You seen PDF in the top?

As for ranking PDF for earning keywords, it worked well about 7 years ago, back then pdfs along with cloaking were able to generate a lot of traffic from longtail.

Nowadays, You can use PDF as an additional source of backlinks, e.g. from Cloud Stacking.

FAQ about the keyword. why will someone publish FAQs in PDF as Google has PAA.

Frankly speaking no one is going to share that method on a free online forum.

You should reverse engineer the process yourself and try to find out the method.

This method has been mentioned & discussed multiple times but there's no solid share with regards to how it's done.

I think the trick lies in indexing these pdf pages.

I assume They work just like parasites i.e leech the authority & trust of the platform they are uploaded on.

If the PDFs you want to rank are on a third party domain, use the same methods you'd use for any parasite. If they're on one of your domains, use your internal linking structure to make sure they get indexed.
 
Is there a difference in seo ranking between 1 html page and 1 pdf ?
I think best is here to use your own domain , upload that thing to google cloud with cloudflare.
Then you can index it (no matter if html site or pdf) in the google console -add property.

Best would be use the free google cloud tier, a low cost 1cpu vm will cost around $13 which is to high for 1 page/pdf.
Using slideshare instead of S3 or google cloud will be better?

Must the user type in the keyphrase+ pdf in google to appear in the serps?
Or will your pdf appers in the serps with keyphrase alone (without add pdf) ?

Yep now I remind the name of the guy who ranks at top in google= Austin SEO Consultans, they rank at top google first page with their google sites on subdomain = https://sites.google.com/view/austinseoconsultants/. I wonder how they got ranked and indexed their subdomain site?
One member here on BHW wrotes they have 680 backlinks to their google sites.

Maybe a link pyramid, Tier backlink blast or something will help to tget your google sites rank?
 
Hi, I have the theory that Google rank PDF files for queries related to documents or real paper like manuals, recipes, menu, etc. And seems logical, if a user is looking for the manual of a car, a pdf will serve better than an html file. Then you need to find a way to move this visitor to your html version because no Ads on PDF
