Im new to the document submission as backlinks, ive submitted a pdf today and was wondering how google sees the link? Will it see the anchor text? Or will it just be a link, like from an image?

Nickjett,

Google indexes all pages (even html ones) as documents with text. Although I cannot provide you with any definitive proof from a reputable source, I would venture a guess that as long as your pdf is configured as text, the anchor text will be picked up by Google just as it would if it were in HTML code.

Here are some good write-ups on optimizing PDFs

Hope that helps you,

I agree, same as html.

But on another note I can't seem to find a clear answer about duplicate content and PDFs . Obviously you wouldnt use the same content on all you tier 1 html properties but is it ok to use the same PDF for your doc sumbimissions?

I have seen several people say it's better to use different content - but at the same timelets take a real world example... when say a medical-research PDF is published isn't that picked up by a bunch of say medical-journal database sites?

I have someone doing some work on one of my sites, and they seem to think there's no dup content issues with PDF's.

Opinions? Or better yet, definitive answers from experienced members?
