PBNs and historical link directories

As i find possible PBN domains i often come across many being listed in link directories / article directories. I guess this was really common back in the days but should this be a reason not to buy the domain or is it ok as long as it does not only consist of these type of backlinks? Sometimes you got a domain with 15 links where at least 2-3 come from these type of websites..

Not sure how to assess them, any feedback would be appreciated.

Unless its Dmoz, there are very few link directories that are HIGHLY valuable. But if you can grab a Dmoz listed one jump all over it.

It depends on a link directory. If the links is from DMoz, do not hesitate and buy such domain

Well its def not from Dmoz so.. , im just worried about penalties not really asking due to link juice as I know its not near as effective as before. Not sure if i should rule out domains based on this.

Also a follow up, how do you guys handle domains that has maybe 5 links, where 2 use identical URL and keywords (points to exact same website for some reason when checking Majestic SEO), and then has another domain pointing to same website with links but under another name and logo... but its still same site..

Saw some fishing domains which were linking to fishing link categories and it was bit strange as i never came across that before.

Checking the backlinks (bulk) with DA/PA is that a good method to quickly get an quick overview of the link power? In this case im focusing mainly on the PA since the domains are already the top domains DA wise linking to X domain.

Also does it matter if some of the domains have some .com and .net even though the domain is identical? The DA/PA is above 20 for at least 12 of them.. although they consist of 4 websites in total with different extensions.
