PBN Penalized money sites?

Thank you Crewchief, your post gave 0 help. Unfortunately I don't think you are able to help because you got stuck on the first sentence in my post, and are bragging how great you are.:o
brikka, you stated...

You are confused because you are not utilizing ANY of the various software applications designed to automate the "On Page" and "Off Page" SEO evaluation/spying process. I use a combination of SEO Powersuite, SpyFu.com, Ahrefs.com and a few others.

I'm never in the dark about the "On page SEO" of any of my sites or any of my competing sites.

I'm also never in the dark concerning my backlink architecture or that of my competitors.

I believe you are correct, article quality was and below par, and doesn't make too much sense - I decided to write content myself... Do you think having a 250 word article can be an issue? The PBN was initially ranking the sites before they got hit, so I think this might have been a panda, which went for content quality. I only used 1 exact match anchor. What do you think I might have missed while setting up the PBN which would have brought a penalty?

1. I think your article quality was below par.

2. That is a possibility too.

3. That's a concern too. Try to keep your articles in English if yours is an "English PBN".

4. This is not a concern whatsoever.

My opinion: 1. You either didn't setup the PBN correctly. Maybe that has resulted in a penalty.
2. You used too much exact match anchors.
3. Article quality was below par. (thin content)

1. all sites of PBN should have decent number of inner pages (20+ imo) to create a "theme" about the site, they should be optimized for your niche, means relevancy to your niche so that when you point links from these sites to your money sites, they are relevant links.
2. article should be 500+ words, copyscape passed and readable.
3. C class IPs are shit, they are from the same Ip owner, same physical server, same geographical place and you know that "secret", i know that, GOOGLE knows that too.
4. you must control your rate of anchor text that point to money site exactly. they should be: null urls, domain, domain.com, organic titles, organic words, long tailed keywords then the last will be exact match keywords. control them!!!!!!!!

No one can actually figure out what went wrong to be honest. I would advise you to :

1. Write decent legible articles with good grammar.
2. Control your anchor text.
3. Use a decent hosting service.

Thanks guys, I will apply some tweaks and report back here.

There may be several reasons:
1. Your anchor diversity.
2. PBN ips. Its better to use different hosting companies.

Hi brikka,

I actually got to this page because I'm starting a PBN and am wondering if I will get penalized if all of my PBN sites each link to each of my money sites. You mentioned 30 PBN sites and implied more than one money site.

Is it possible you are dropping in the rankings because Google has spotted that 30 different PBN sites are linking to X money sites? In other words, site 1 links to money site A, B, C. Site 2 links to A, B, C. etc... Could Google recognize that pattern by comparing the domains (removing the inner page part), and seeing that multiple sites have this similar link pattern. So, Google discounts (penalized) the money sites because they recognize this as a "link scheme"?

Another thought... Have all of your PBN sites been linking to money sites before? Are they using expired domains? If so, is it possible one of the PBN sites was previously penalized by Google and that site is what's causing the "penalty" on your money sites? If I were in your position, I might try something like:

0. Remove all links and see if you get back your original rankings after 3 or so weeks.
1. Remove PBN sites 1-N (start with N=15) links to money sites
2. Wait 3 to 4 weeks (maybe one week longer than however long it took for each money site to drop before).
3. Rinse and repeat (1-3) using binary search to eliminate each set of PBNs as the possible culprit.

Anyway, I'm really only a few months into this SEO business. So, curious to see where I'm "off" in my thinking. And, would also love to hear more about best practices with regards to each PBN site linking to all of my money sites, or just some, or best patterns, or if each money site should have a unique PBN (seems expensive and excessive).

Regards,
sjmyst

Similar thing happened to a friend of mine, site was ranking well until he gave links from his PBN, site returned after removing links from the PBN, the cause for the penalty was not the IPs and not the over anchor text but it was the articles which was spun using senukeXCr and the spinning quality was not good at all, possible solution is using some other spinner with good spinning quality to create 100% unique content to take a drag to write 100-300 words unique articles and stick them up on the homepage and make sure there aint any other copied content on the homepage of the websites on which your link has been placed. Happy ranking again.

Do people ACTUALLY believe that hosting IPs are like blacklisted or something? I'd like to see any sort of evidence of that kind of thing.

Really hard to figure out what could have gone wrong. Here is my 2 cents worth -

1. Is it possible that one (or more) of your PBN sites was previously penalized? I presume you bought expired domains. Did you check if they showed up in the google search index before using them? Were any of them 301? Did any have spammy content in wayback archive? You can check them each now and if you find one that is penalized, remove all the links from that domain.

2. If it is a case of over-optimization of keywords, try and reduce the on page keyword density on your money site. Wait for a few weeks to see if there is any improvement in rankings.

3. Are you linking to high authority sites from your PBN? In case you are only linking to your money sites, I would suggest adding some links to top sites in your money site industry

4. Did the ranking drop around 15th May? I have seen a major change in traffic in my old and new domains around that time and Google could have made some algo change where older sites get a lot more benefit.

I would avoid making knee-jerk-reaction changes. Take this as an opportunity to learn by tweaking a few things and measuring the results.

I have a site received massive PBN links (like 300,000) in negative SEO attack. They used long tail anchors, however the word liverpool, chelsea, premier league were 700 time repeated, etc using like 2000 different anchors. We have 1M links but the penalty ruin our lifes since 2014 and we had fails of 90% of traffic down being a sports newspaper acredited until by FIFA. We "tried" to disavow the 1000 domains the PBN sending file to google on day 5 of december.

Anyone is interested in know more about our story we lived or can give their opinion?

We really need references, thanks!

all exspired domains where allready flagged imo

where did you get the domains from ?.

did you drip feed all the pbn, so the links didnt look like spam going to main website?
