PBN made of spammed websites

I'm seeing something stupid and interesting at the same time, one of my competitors is ranking for 10k keywords using a PBN made of old replica selling sites, mega spammed to death, but it seems it does the trick, have you seen anything similar ?

I think if that site hasn't been penalized yet, and with all those link juice still flowing to that site, then it should rank accordingly.
But my guess is that such a site would be up in the SERP for 1-3 months top - it's the regular churn and burn technique, where you churn a bucket load of links to that site, and it will definitely go up the SERP within 1-3 months, but once a major ranking update takes place, that will knock it back down, discrediting the spam links that were built initially. Been there done that.

Thanks for the reply but the site in question is a PBN site, they are using sites that were selling replicas to make a private blog network and link to other sites

You can get away with this here and there for some time. If it's for some kind of churn and burn project, then by all means. I would never use that kind of crap for even a medium term project.
 
kinda surprised that it still works, not one of the "oldest" but i get your point.
 
i thought pbn its dead.... i guess that he is surprised not about the tech, but the sucess in 2018
 
It works until it doesn't. As long as you go into your project knowing that, then you're fine.
 
3 words. churn and burn. does it work? sure. is it worth the effort? in my opinion no. build high quality shit that lasts
 
I think the OP's original point is worth considering though.

The spam isn't pointing directly at the money site. The spam is pointing at PBN domains that are then ranking the money site.

So even if Google penalises those PBN sites in a couple of months, the owner can just stop pointing them at the money site, and the money site won't be penalised.
