PBN Link Type Questions

Hi all,

I've worked hard to set up a pretty solid PBN. I have been making posts and beginning to link to my money site.

I realized pretty quickly that when I added a link to one article, I ended up getting additional duplicative backlinks due to the "tags" and "archives" pages.

Question 1: is there any negative effect of this happening? Ie one link inside an article ends up being 20 backlinks? Should I set tags pages as noindex?

Question 2: when people refer to the "home page pbn link" are they talking about having a link in the sidebar? Thus its actually sitewide? Or are they referring to getting a link inside a post stickied and expanded on the front page? Which is more powerful?

no there, is no negative seo effect of this, they are generally talking about a post stickied on the front page. Though I would avoid all these kinds of links as they have little SEO benefit

1. This happens on many WP sites and so is likely not something penalized. However, if you're concerned about it, as you mentioned you can set the archive/tag pages to not be indexed. Another option (assuming you're displaying full posts on the archive/tag pages), is to only display the excerpts instead of the full articles, which will not display the link to your money site.

2. Avoid sidebar links. When people refer to homepage links, they are talking about sticky posts with full content. Doing this is unnecessary, however, and if you do it for most/all of your PBNs it may actually be a footprint.

Q1 - It's generally not the best practice to have that going on, set up the site or post so it doesn't do this, it's not great, but it's not a major bad thing either.

Q2 - You dont want the link site wide thats terrible, it could get punished like when a web design puts their link in the footer, its not good, they have it in the post which is displayed on the first page normally, when new posts eventually knock it off the first page or set it in a way that the post with the link is a sticky and stays on the front page if you want, depending on how you are using it.

1. No big deal. If you decide to set your tags and category pages as noindex, make sure you do not do that on all your sites. Might be a footprint.

2. By homepage link is, most of the ti me, meant contextual homepage link. That is, from the body of an article. Also, having 100% homepage links with full articles on homepage is a footprint again.
