PBN for Agencies?

Hey guys,

I'm curious - what are your thoughts on agencies utilizing PBNs to help give their clients that extra boost in rankings? Is this common practice?

Is anyone knowledgeable on the best strategies for hosting/content/etc for agencies? It seems most PBN guides that I've read (if not all), are focused on boosting up one site (a money site), instead of a whole network of clients.

How do PBNs change when you are on the agency side? Any of you experts on PBNs for agencies and want to shoot me your skype name to chat a little? I mainly have questions on hosting - we currently have approx 10-15 blogs hosted on "Easy Blog Networks", maybe 3-5 hosted on "SEO Web Hosting", and the remaining 50~ blogs are spread out on random hosting providers.

Is this a good practice? Should we move away from "Easy Blog Networks" and "SEO Web Hosting" and make every domain that we purchase going forward a separate host?

Is it okay for an agency (that isn't spamming a single money site with PBN links, but a large variety of clients that already have organic/natural results and a solid backlink profile) to host a similar setup to this: 1/3 Easy Blog Networks, 1/3 SEO Hosting site, 1/3 random hosting providers (local providers, bluehost, etc.)

I've been working on optimizing our blog network and trying to figure out the best practices going forward that I can implement. I will be responsible for creating the documentation for detailing the process of buying a domain for PBN, setting up hosting, and creating content. I've done tons of research on PBNs, just looking for agency-specific best practices I suppose.

Thank you guys so much! Please let me know if this doesn't make sense.

this is common practice. Sink or float in the SEO world - pbn's will make you more buoyant when it comes to updates and competitors.

I use them all for my clients, even spammy spun crap and it works just fine.

For agencies serving valuable clients whom you are charging in 4 figure monthly, get high quality auction domains set up as a blog network. Place no more than 15 OBL from the domain. Post fresh and unique content on them. Maintain them on premium hosts. This helps in reducing penalties as well as avoiding footprints. Since bigger the network higher your chances of leaving footprints.

Thing is if you're using just one PBN network for all your clients, you run the risk of all of them getting hit if it is discovered.

It was common practice in the past, but today isn't really a valid option any more. Maybe for small local businesses who still don't mind buying "blackbox SEO" without proper documentation or willingly accept the risks coming with PBNs to compete with a small budget, but for larger corporate clients it's usually a no-go.

You can host all your websites with Easy Blog Networks, they use like 20 different host providers and give you all unique IPs.

Dont use any "SEO" host.

I manage a lot of 4 figure clients sites, and from what i've seen over the last few years, there is very little difference to using a pbn of 10 sites or 100. Once Google find it, they blow your shit up.

I get better results from using 100's of expired domains on shared hosting then buying premium domains, especially with the spike in auction prices.

Have you been waving away profits due to the raising prices? Surely they are effecting the ranks?

Chances of them finding PBNs by a review are extremely slim, but getting an algo penalty, or an algo triggered review is likely if you don't know what you are doing, which 90%+ of PBN owners don't.

Do you have any evidence to support this claim?

Common sense. Unless you are trying to rank for "payday loans" or "garnicia cambogia", what are the chances of really getting a manual review? Just use your head, how many keywords are there, does google have enough employees to check sites in top 10 for every keyword under the sun and then manually review each site's backlinks?

Thank you for clarifying my point.

Manual reviews are very unlikely, even with algo triggered reviews they usually don't spot pbn which are put together reasonably well. So why spend more on the raising prices of domains in auctions when you can get betters results from spending the same on expired domains?

Great, thanks for the advice.

I appreciate all of the input everyone

I really don't think any algon is going to see how well a site has been made. It will go by the number of OBLs, niche relevancy of the links, IP neighbourhood, patterns of link out from domains etc. Non-dropped auction domains with excellent backlinks would command more reputation with those algos, definitely yes, else we wouldn't be discussing expired domains itself.

On paper, everything you are saying seems right. However in practice, from my experience - expired domains are not an issue, nor impose more of a risk then non-dropped domains. But i'm sure this will change in the future, like any method.

I've had networks lost from expired and auctioned, I actually lost a lot more money when my auctioned domains went. But again, I haven't lost very many, maybe 50> sites

So basically you're saying you use one class of IP's for one PBN?
