I have a PBN domain that I recently acqured, which has a link which comes from news.bbc.co.uk

Will that link help me rank the PBN domain at all, if the anchor text used to link to the domain is different from the keyword im trying to rank for?

Also for this specific domain that has the BBC backlink would it be better to 301 to my money site or to simply build content and a normal pbn site

Firstly you never try to 'rank' a pbn domain. It's sold purpose is to rank your money site. It doesn't matter if pbn domain is ranked 1000000 in Google as long as it's passing it's juicy goodness down to your money site.

Secondly I tend to stay away from using 301s for any project which I plan to keep for a long time. I'm not saying that 301s are only for churn and burn but there is always more risk involved in 301s than there is in using it as a proper domain with content

No matter what the anchor text is the link will pass juice.

If the bbc link is on a page with no juice then that link is no better then any other link, just because its from bbc that wont help. The page its on needs to have some type of link juice for it to be useful.

Using it as a 301 or PBN site is 100% up to you.

This. I've come across at least 15 domains in the last 6 months with links from the BBC, I've only bought one of them. It's easy to get star struck with authority website links but as asap1 said, if it's on a remote page buried in archives from 10 years ago, your money is better spent elsewhere.

Ignore the fact that it has a bbc link. It really doesn't make much of a difference since the overall link profile is what matters. If you want to throw the domain away then do a 301. If you want to have some chance of benefiting your main site then throw up a blog on it with good content with a link to your main site.

If the anchor text is related to what you're trying to rank for then I'd 301 it to your money site.

A BBC link alone is worth close to nothing. If there are a lot more authority backlinks besides BBC that's a whole different story.
