PBN Domain Relevancy

Hello all,

I've done a lot of reading around about the relevancy of PBN domains to my money site and there seems to be a lot of contrasting information - some say that having a domain that is relevant to your money sites' niche is VERY important and without it you will lose most of the link juice. Others say it doesn't matter so much.

Am I better scraping/selling PBN domains not relevant to my money site, or shall I build sites with them?

From what I know its about 50-50. You can re-purpose/spin something that might not be too relevant to your website, and make it relevant. Let me give you an example.

Let's say you are creating a PBN for a currency exchange or pay day loan site, and you have a travel site part of your PBN, you can write the articles on the travel website in such a way that it will relate toy your money site. The title of the article could be like "How to get the best exchange rates for travelling" or "Use a pay-day loan to travel". Something to this affect. You get the idea.

Hey man, thanks for your reply!

I've read about this repurposing before, the issue is that some people say that the authority from the backlinks of the PBN (let's say are in the health niche) will pass on to the PBN (repurposed SEO niche blog so it is health/SEO combined as you said), but not to the money site (SEO niche). Do you know if this is the case?

I've seen old Re-purposed Expired sites ranking without new backlinks in top earning niches ,so .. conclusions can be drawn .

There should be no reason why the link juice wouldn't pass on to your money site. As long as there's a connection between the topics between all the tiers of linking (links to PBN -> PBN -> Moneysite). If the original PBN site was about health, I would make a personal blog about an SEO Expert, and what they are doing to keep healthy and fit. In this case you can squeeze in health and seo related keywords, thus looking natural to Google.
 
Yeah, if you ask 50 people about this, you'll get 50 different answers for sure. As pointed out above - as long as you keep the article related to the original theme of the PBN site and the paragraph with the link to the money site related to the topic of the money site, you'll be fine. I definitely prefer more flexible sites like this myself.

Obviously if you stumble across some really niche relevant domains you can pick them up. The issue with focusing too much on the relevance of the expired domains is you'll have to build out a PBN for every niche you decide to go into. (Arguably the best option if you have the cash flow to pull it off, but not a reality for many).
 
People buy links from non niche related domains everyday, even me and rank.

YES having niche related domains will give you more power from the links.

NO its not a "must have".

However if you're the one building the PBN, its best to keep it close to the original intent of the website, and only post that kind of content to keep it from being discovered by Google as a PBN. Sure PBNs that stuff articles in 100 different niches work, but for how much longer will they work? That's the real question here.
 
i was wondering this as well. PBN seems to be the trendy thing around here these days but it's only a matter of time before they loose effectiveness............

If done right, I don't think PBNs will ever lose effectiveness. Unless G stops valuing links, well done PBNs are here to stay.
 
I am a little bit paranoid about PBNs and try to build only niche relevant PBNs, however, in case I find a really good domain with awesome metrics, I can still re-purpose it and use it in my PBN. My partner uses totally different strategy. His PBNs are not relevant to his money website and, as far as i can judge, both strategies work well.
 
I've been using both relevant and not relevant domains for PBN purposes. Obviously the relevant ones have usually better effect on rankings, althought it depends a lot on the backlink profile, however the not relevant ones are fine too if at least the content posted on them is relevant to the money site's niche.
 
If the links are powerful like very high authority news site or .edu/.gov, they work just as effective, if not more than the relevant ones
 
For effect, metrics seem to be more important than relevancy. For safety relevancy helps, but obviously most PBNs are not going to pass a manual review unless it really is a real website.
