Paypal situation - help me find a solution

Here's the situation.

2 months ago my Debit card, the one I had connected to my Paypal account, expired. However, I now live in a different country than the one where my Paypal is based in (I use Paypal through Teamviewer).

So anyway, I went and got me a debit card in this country where I'm at now, and I was planning to transfer my Paypal account here. Simple, right?

Wrong. Paypal doesn't allow it. For fucks sake. 2016, 21st century, globalization, and I can't transfer my Paypal with a few thousand dollars in it to a different country (and I need the money, that's rent, that's food, that's everything).

So anyway, let me ask.

Is there any possibility I can transfer my Paypal account to a different country? Maybe by sending Paypal a message or calling them, and pleading with them?

Or, since my mother lives in that country where my Paypal is based in, can I connect her Debit card to my Paypal account, and use that card to get my money out?

Any other solution?

Connect her bank information to your paypal account. That is the best way to get money out without fees and then you can work out a transfer with your mother outside of paypal.

Well, the only way to attach a bank account to Paypal is if you're in the States, if I'm not mistaken. But my Paypal is not in the States. So we'll have to do a Debit/Credit Card attachment.

So is that possible? Would I be allowed to connect my mom's debit card to my Paypal account (we have different names, but the same last names), and then after the linking has been done, I can use that debit card to withdraw money on it? That's possible? Paypal will allow that?

Ah sorry about that I didn't know that was a state thing.

However, yeah if paypal does allow withdrawal to debit card in your location then you should be fine. A friend of mines younger brother uses his mothers paypal account but has his debit card under it.

Well, just to be clear for everyone. It's an US - America thing. In other words, you can attach a bank account to your Paypal but only if you're in America. Since I'm not there, bank account can't be used for Paypal. I'm no Paypal expert either, but this is what I know on that. It's not a State thing, I believe that you can attach a bank account to your Paypal no matter which State you are in, as long as you're in the United States of America.

Thanks for the info and the quick reply by the way. I've sent a message to Paypal just now asking them about this situation. I'll post here when I get a reply to inform you guys about what they told me. Fingers crossed this is possible.

Well, why did you not try to contact PayPal and explain them your situation? I think that may be the fastest solution to resolve your issue.

I did. I sent them a message, and I also asked here.

This is probably the least helpful reply I ever got from Paypal.

They told me that I can't attach my mom's debit card, it would not be accepted because her name is different from mine.

That said, they told me to close my Paypal account, and open a new one where I live now. To which I replied, what about the few thousand fucking (i didn't really say fucking) dollars I have in my Paypal account? What happens with that if I close my Paypal account. For fucks sake Paypal... for fucks sake...

I think I won't avoid the hassle of opening a new debit card in that country where my Paypal is based in. I talked to the bank, they told me there is a way, but it's a hassle. And who the hell knows, if that doesn't work out for whatever reason, I may have to actually go to that country just for this.

I can't believe Paypal about this... unbelievable...

Yes we could do that. However, I already get raped on Paypal fees for receiving money, and for converting from USD to Euros, and a little every time I withdraw money. I feel as though they get more than enough, them greedy bastards. So if I can get away with not giving them more, I will. I want to keep all of my money!

But now that you mention it, can I send $3000 dollars to a different (and new) Paypal account that my mother would open for example, would Paypal lose their shit and limit me or anything? I assume that they would, so that door is firmly closed. I dread getting limited/locked for 6 months. That means that rent, food, bills, dentist, would suffer. I would have a survival crisis. So, yeah...

I don't like Paypal at all, and totally agree with you about their charges.
I have however previously sent someone a lot of money via Paypal, but what I did first was contact Paypal support and speak to them first about it. I let them know the money was going to be sent, the exact amount, and who the person was etc. I made the transfer while I was on the phone with the support team and they authorised it "live".

I would suggest you get your mom to open a paypal account, get to verify if all with ID, etc. Add her bank account, etc etc. and then phone support and say you need to send her money as she is (sick/needs food/needs deposit, etc)

Then I asked them what can I do about my situation. They told me I should close my Paypal account, and open a new one where I live now. To which I replied, "what happens to the $3000 dollars in my account if I do that?"

Then I was told that I should go ahead and do that, and then if I can't send the money for some reason, I should contact them. And as far as the fees, I should contact them about it, and they will send the issue to the right department within Paypal for review.

So then I was going to ask them, what does that mean? I take it that that means, I'll lose the fees, then they'll send it for review to see if I'll get the fees back or not.

This is bullshit. We're talking money, not chickens. I want a 100% answer. No reviewing, no maybes, the fuck? Give me a sure answer. The situation is very clear cut, how can you not know to give me an absolute answer I can hold you to?!?...

Anyway, tomorrow I'll call them and try to work it out with them live. I mean, I'll lose like $150 bucks in fees. I mean, if I have to lose that money, I'm better off going through the hassle of getting a new debit card from the country where I used to live. For fucks sake, I can take $60 bucks and actually Go to that country and do it in person.

I'm totally disappointed by Paypal. The 21st century is calling them, but they ain't picking up...

And by the way, every time I get a reply from a different customer support person. Wussup with that huh??

Hey thanks. I already read all those haha.

So here's my plan.

1) Call Paypal tomorrow, and try to get a clear answer whether I can open a new Paypal account here and transfer money from old account to new without paying fees!

If I get a no or a don't know, not sure about it answer. Then...

2) Go through the hassle of opening a new debit card where I used to live, attach to Paypal, take out all my money, close old Paypal account, open new account, keep doing business...

That's all I can do.

open another account and send the money to it "as friend" option.
otherwise you risk to loose all the money. so I would pay them a fee to get most of your money.

Option 2 is best for you op. Trying to communicate with PayPal is a nightmare. Their support staff have little more access than you as the end user.

Don't do option 1. That would be a waste of time.

If I were you I would create a new account under your mom's name and verify it with her debit card. This way you can attach her bank account to withdraw the money as well.

Send the money some then some later as you don't wanna make them suspicious by sending those amount in an instant.

Well guys. Here's what's up.

Two stories now.

About 15 days ago I get 2 chargebacks for unauthorized Payments on my Paypal account. Each of them a $6 dollar payment. So $12 dollars in total. The money was held, and I submitted info to fight the chargeback.

Last night, it seems the credit card company ruled against me, and the client got his $12 dollars back. However, I woke up to find another $40 bucks missing from my Paypal account. And that's only because I knew how much money I had before, and noticed the difference. I wasn't informed of this charge, it wasn't noted on my Paypal expenses, nothing (isn't this kind of, sort of, illegal?).

So anyway. I call Paypal immediately. I talked to this sweet, sweet girl. I mean, her voice, you know what I mean?... Yeah...

So okay, she's fine. She looks over the situation, and informs me that every time there's a chargeback like that, if it's ruled against me, I have to pay $20. That's the rules. Reviewing chargebacks or whatever is expensive. Mmm, sometimes I sell 8 things to make $40 bucks. I was displeased. But then she saw that the disputes were for $12 total for both items, so she refunded me the $40 dollars. I was real happy about that. There's justice in the world.

Anyway, this is bullshit, ya hear Paypal?!?!?!!!


Then I asked her about my Paypal situation, how I want to open a new Paypal account in the country I've moved to and stuff. Long story short, I can't avoid the fee. She said I can transfer the money as friends & family, and if I run into any problems I can call them and they'll take care of it. It's no problem. However, I'll still lose the international fee for transfering money between countries, which is, as she said, she believes about 1%. That means I'll lose about $30 bucks if she's right. If she's wrong and it's higher, I may end up losing $60, or $90, or who knows, maybe even more.

All things considered, I've decided to simply open a new debit card in the country where I used to live, and get my money out that way. And who know, I may even keep my old account (since it's old and in good standing and a good sum of money has passed through the account), and simply open a Business account in the country where I live on. The Paypal customer support girl told me I'm allowed to do that.

Oh well, there it is folks. Always a party...

I have experienced such a problem before and it is not only in PayPal but also in Amazon, they do detect the Ip and hence will be curious on the country of operation. You can be able to just open a new account over there with their respective debit card for confirmation. It will help you out in terms of get money and also avoid being caught on the wrong side of law.
