    it was sent from harbor1@paypal.com

Just wanted to tell you about a change we re introducing to make PayPal
safer in these tough economic times. Like a lot of financial companies,
we re going to start holding a small percentage of the total payments
    you receive a reserve.

In a nutshell, a reserve is a percentage of the money you take in that s
held in your account temporarily to help make sure you can cover
transaction liabilities like reversals or chargebacks.

Your reserve percentage will be 5%, and we ll hold it on a rolling
30-day schedule. That means 5% of the money you take in each day will
get held, and then released 30 days later. And while we know this is a
significant change, tough economic times mean that we, too, have to be
    more prudent.

We ll start holding your reserves 30 days from the date of this email.
If you re a PayPal Money Market Fund customer, you ll still earn a
return while your money is in reserve.

For more information or to learn more about how reserves work, visit the
PayPal Help Center. If you require additional assistance please contact
    us at 1-877-729-7252.

    Sincerely,
    Risk Operations
    PayPal, an eBay Company

its either because you're taking CC payments directly on your website(website pro payments), or you have lots of CC payments, and perhaps some heavy chargebacks... nothing for me

no link in it either, i think its some fake emial but its not asking for anything. i dont take cc payments , most of all my payments are mass pay payments so they are safe from chargebacks.

most merchants/payment processors do that anyways, its not a huge problem if you're legit.

    WOW!!!

what paypal fails to realize is that the money is not theirs....

reminds me of one of the arguments I was having with a paypal rep one time....i was using my PP money to by items (dropshipping) and she said, 'we are not your funders' implying that i'm borrowing $$ from them....

i told her, this is not your money...

but i have to thank paypal, really....since my account was terminated, i realize that there are other payment options on line besides paypal...

Merchant processors use it for a whole different reason and not economic times issues. That is held for "chargebacks" and is pretty standard on merchant accounts for years.

I think this paypal e-mail is fake. Might not be a phishing scheme but perhaps someone trying to stir up more shit for paypal.

Never heard of it and I get a BUTTLOAD of chargebacks on my PP so I'm sure I'd be in line for this mail if this was something they were doing to risky account holders, seems fake to me.

Also I'm not sure if you just copied and pasted the email here but there are a few typos as well.

I may stand corrected. Check this out:

Hey wait, is this really any different?

I mean, doesn't Paypal instantly already take a portion of your payments anyway?
    ...and listing fees.
    ...and End of Auction Value.

I am sure those F***ers hire someone to sit around all day long, looking for more ways to screw account holders. Like the US government does.

That's a big difference. Merchant accounts automatically do it. It's pretty standard in the industry. Paypal is just now doing it and claiming it's to to the current economic climate.

I also haven't heard of anyone else getting the e-mail yet.

can you guys bash paypal based on facts, not just for the sake of bashing them. With the current economic climate, times are bad, so people tend to do chargebacks more often than not. Like say you're falling short at the end of the month, and you look at your cc bill. then you see that ebook you bought that didn't really live up to expectations-you really need that cash.. call cc company-chargeback that amount.

Regardless of Paypal..They're a company like any other company. You having YOUR $$$ in their company is expendable funds to expand, keep investors happy and what not. That's why I'm spending MY money at a rapid pace so they cannot enjoy MY money anymore. Fukin c*nts!
