I have question regarding scams with china suppliers. If they accept paypal then how can they be scammer right? I just read on here that pp holds your funds for 100 days or something. So then, that must mean that they cant scam you cause if they do they wont get their money.
Am I missing something?
If the sale wasnt made through ebay..and there are no transaction details given with pp payment...does pp still hold the money?

any help on this would be much appreciated..'thanks

he will keep you waiting for 3 days and he will withdraw money, as long as you direct send / mass pay , the funds clear in max 24 hours or instant. if they withdraw it completes in 24 hours and you will never see your money again. paypal does not hold for 100 days unless you call them and ask to put a hold until you receive your goods however in that scenario they can send you a pile of rocks and once you receive a tracking number that eventually gets shipped, you again get screwed and can say goodbye to your money! paypal does not insure the goods in the package, just that the item is sent tracked and received.
the 100 day hold explenation was given to you by a scammer.
good luck

No, they can still scam you piece of cake.

1. They steal someone's verified PP account. Accounts with steller history like mine have 0 payment holds and if you have a paypal debit card you easily get the money out in minutes and disappear.

2. Stolen identity: They could age the account and use a PP account w/ a stolen identity to reg it , make sure everything checks out and easily pump $ out of the account.

3. Hijacked PP accounts, they have you send money to a stolen PP account and then they quickly move the money to a "safe PP" account and then cash out so it can't be reversed.

Really, there's so many ways to do this and China seems to be flooded w/ crime these days (I mean no offense to Chinese people what so ever!!! -- solely based on personal observations).

only if u buy via ebay its safe (only 500$) without ebay there is a 500 $ insurance but if he says he sent the item to you and has prove (lets say he sent you an empty box) then you cant to anything

I actually called pp and said im not sure the supplier is legit and what if he sends me empty box etc...their response was that I am covered under their buyer protection policy either way and all I need to do is open a dispute saying item not as described. They confirmed I will get my money back. I said how do I prove I actually bought xxx. They said I dont need to...the seller needs to.
Im so confused.
I guess I will wait and see.. :)

well...I received my parcel today! Instead of a camera I got a pair of sneakers! $450...
Its funny cause I knew it was ridiculously low...the price she gave me.... but went against all reason and my gut feeling just because she accepted Pp and I thought maybe Im just too over cautious and paranoid. I also didnt do enough research aroung electronics in china or brand name electronics. Lesson learned!
Anyway, Ive filed a dispute with PP..see what happens..

by the way...this scammer has a sense of humour. While I was contemplating whether or not to take a gamble..I joked saying i hope she doesnt send me a pair of sneakers!
lol
there you go! It takes all kinds to make the world go round I guess.

Good luck with your dispute and i guess you will listen to that gut feeling a bit more now !!

How cute. If the sneakers are used you may sell them to some foot fetishist with the right persona as 'the owner'.

If i had seen this thread earlier I would have told you to pay with a credit card via paypal and if scammed simply walk into your bank and file a chargeback. Now, did you use a credit card by any chance?

It is very easy to be scammed on PayPal. You need to do your research and know what you are doing.

Lol i had the same problem when i was newbie. I bought iPhone 4 and iPads from a Chinese Seller via Paypal. I never heard from them again. Luckily I paid from my credit card not the paypal balance and sine paypal was no help i just called my credit card company and they refunded me all my money back. As for paypal, they pretty much limited my account.

Overall, I love my credit card company and this is a great way to say F U to GayPal for limiting my account.

paypal limited your account?

for how long? shoot...I better call my credit card company!

thanks for that!
