I logged into PayPal and had a total of £88.12, the next day I had £88.02 and today I have £88.44. The money is in USD so I think it's the exchange rates or is it?

your account is in £ but you have $, so it converts the $ to your default £

I didn't receive any more payments after the £88.12 though.

Depending on what type of payment you received and from where, it can take as many as 3-5 business days to complete the transaction. That said, Paypal will post an approximate exchange rate, then once the transaction is finalized, it will reflect the final rate.

No I guess OP received amount in his main balance. But i think he has not converted amount in euro may be that's the reason why the variation happened.
