Will it really be crypto though or just “borrowed” from PayPal?

I can’t see then allowing people to send btc to an external wallet, and then get hit with chargebacks.

Or if they do allow that, would they pull a cb from the merchants bank?

I mean if not lol you could literally buy anything with btc and they’d go from the most hated to the most loved overnight.

So what? You act like it's life changing.

If they are allowing full crypto use from PayPal then it will be for a lot of merchants

No, Square and PayPal are just in bed with it. It doesnt make any business sense for any other financial institution to invest in something that volatile. It means nothing now. Maybe in 2 years we can talk more about it...

I don’t see how that’s so?
Being able to make purchases with crypto via PayPal opens up merchants who previously did not accept PayPal due to fraud, to accept PayPal now.
It would also mean you don’t need a PayPal account for PayPal customers to pay you(if they allow transfer to external wallet like cashapp does)
That’s huge.

As far as volatility goes, sure but so far it’s been extreme growth. They also make fees such as cashapp taking 2%, that’s almost all profit for them. A traditional credit processor makes less than 1% per transaction.

It has plenty of upside now. They wouldn’t “be in bed” without an upside. Being in bed with it means there is upside to them, no?

It also makes
Tons of sense for merchants to be able to accept it easily from all their PayPal customers. No chargeback fraud. That’s huge. Real time deposits as well. Cross border without exchange rates. No need for a merchant account.
All they’d need is a free wallet and an exchange to cash out.

Are they maybe doing a staggered rollout?

Or maybe they are going to exit scam by taking crypto from cryptonoobs and then just close Paypal forever.

A major MtGox on the making
