Paypal held my payment. What to do?

Hello Guys,

A week back i did data entry work for a guy. It was for $80. After finishing the work, he sent me $80 as services to my paypal account and i got the money. But almost 2 hours later, i get a mail from paypal saying:

To protect you from problematic transactions, we sometimes request
additional information about PayPal payments.

We need more information about this transaction. Please log in to your
PayPal account, click the "Resolution Center"tab, and provide more
information by 10/02/2010.

We recommend that you not ship the item until our investigation is
complete. If you've already shipped the item, please log in and let us know
where you shipped it.

We have placed a temporary hold on the funds until we complete our
investigation.

So, i asked my client if he did a dispute and he said no. But he said his paypal was limited. He did not give the reason why, just said he is trying to unlimit it. So, i went to the resolution center and tried to resolve the case. I selected that it was a non tangible product and gave all details about my work and that i had provided him with a service and not sold a good. Then, the resolution center status was Awaiting other party's response. And when i click on the details, the second page shows the status as: Being reviewed by Paypal. I asked my client to resolve the case as it showed Awaiting other party's response. He said that when he went to resolution center the status was Waiting for your action(My client's) but there was no button or anything to resolve the case. Its been a week now and nothing has happened. The funds are still held by paypal, and the resolution center still shows the same thing.

What am i supposed to do.

I had a similar issue a year or so ago with a client I did a website for. His account wasnt verified so they witheld the funds. I did the same as you explained everything as did my client, paypal eventually gave me the money it just took them 2 months or so.

It looks like you will be waiting awhile also.

I think even i will have to wait. But isn't there anything that i can do to possibly unhold the money.

In many cases they keep the money for themself.

I suggest to talk to your client and ask for a second payment, in case the payment is released to you you can refund it.

The problem is that his paypal is limited and he cannot send money nor receive. He says he is still trying to get his paypal unlimited.

If that guy is not responding to PayPal, eventually you will get money. It will take time. PP gives 3 chances for that guy to respond, after that money is yours.

Yes, that is what i have read on other forums too. But my client says he does not have option to resolve the case nor did he receive any mail from paypal as i did.

So, do you still think i might get the money and how much time will it take

paypal is an untrustworthy pay processor....

i have a feeling some bad stuff is gonna come down on paypal in the near future.

Simply call PayPal customer support representative and tell them the situation and elaborate everything.

Paypal now is no longer a very popular payment options.. They have so many issues now..
