Like most people I have been scammed! I sold our first engagement ring because we found a nicer one that was cheaper. We knew we would be taking a loss but decided since I was selling on eBay why not try and see if anyone would want it. Someone did, a few people actually but this person won the auction. I was nervous because they were saying they were concerned I would keep the ring their money and hack into their account. I mentioned how it was a big purchase for their first one considering the eBay account was opened two days prior. They said they were forced to close their other account. I insured and tracked the package and asked for signature confirmation. I took pictures of the ring the packaging as well. Called PayPal to see if they were verified and explained my hesitation and why. He assured me they were verified and it would be OK I did more than enough. This was 4/17/14. The package went out the next morning with them asking later that night if it was sent yet.
On 4/21/14 I got confirmation it was signed for by the name on the eBay account not on PayPal. 9 hours later I get an email stating they tried to sell the diamonds but they are a fake and the authenticity certificate from Kay's was a fake. Before I could respond I got another message telling me I had three days and they had all m information. I then get a message from PayPal saying a dispute was filed. I sent over everything I had. I even sent over the authenticity certificate I had scanned into my computer before sending. PayPal reviewed and said for buyer to send back my ring on April 27. Which they didn't on May 6th I received some fake over sized ugly cheap ring with a note that had vulgar language. I called PayPal right there at the sorting facility and the rep told me to take pictures and send it over. Which I did then walked outside and sat in the car with my two year old for 45 minutes while they made me think they were actually going to help me.
Needless to say my appeal that was filed on May 9th because they forgot to change the status so it could be reviewed on the 6th was denied and four more times after that. Only at 517pm was I informed after being on the phone on and off since 927am, they don't use pictures as evidence and that I was asked to send them probably because they were being noisy. I called the local police but I live in a township and the county police don't get involved with PayPal eBay or Craigslist. I filed a complaint with ic3.gov but have no clue of the time frame that will take. Paypal is saying they keep denying it because the same thing is being said by both sides. I get it but I don't. Wtf am I supposed to do? It was 575 bucks. Police won't help eBay says they can't and PayPal ugh I'm not a swearing woman but I am MAD!!! This person still has no history on this account. This jerk left positive feedback back to but I believe it was the day before item was obtained.
