God damn Paypal, I just don't get what they're doing or how they work it makes no sense to me.

Had a situation where someone claimed a refund and my Paypal account ended up at about -500. It's not usually a problem, had it happen before and because money is coming in it usually ends up at a positive balance before long.

This time I had some payments in took the balance to about -400.

Then some more payments took it to about -250.

Got up a couple of days ago and Paypal have taken 400 out of my bank account - when I spoke to them it was to "clear the negative balance of 400", even though it wasn't at 400 when they took the money.

The money of course though isn't showing in my Paypal account its an echecque which takes up to 14 days to clear!

Had some more payments in the account is now positive.

After those payments are in the account and its positive - paypal take another 280 out of my bank account - which has also disappeared into a blackhole of an echeque and doesn't even show on my account.

So now my account is positive just from transactions, but Paypal are also sat on almost 700 of my money that I can't have back for at least 10 days.

The worrying thing is that after the 1st incident I cancelled the direct debit from my bank account so they couldn't do it again - and it made no difference at all, they've simply taken the money as an "account reversal"...

And the bank can do nothing to stop them.

I'm worried that tomorrow or the day after they'll have syphoned off even more money from my bank, what they're doing just makes no sense at all.

Nightmare - moaning over.

Already talked to them, would have done better talking to the wall in the back garden.

Well, what about writing legal claim against them? If they charge you more than you owe them, it is even possible to try to charge them for theft. You can write claim to local police I think. Also you can first tell to theirs support that if they will not return you money, you'll go to police, they must start to do something, I am sure that have instructions to avoid any official investigation.
If depends on your country, of course.

PayPal is NOT able to withdraw money from your bank account, if you don't give them permission to do so.

Well that's what they've done - it's gone even though there's no direct debit set up.
