paying for links only when they appear in webmaster tools?

Hi guys,

I posted on seoclerks a WTB gig looking for social links and I got an offer that surprised me. A guy said that he will build links from tumblr and pinterest and that I have to pay him only when they appear in webmaster tools (asked $x per link). It's a bit weird, but if I think about it, this could work in my favor. If I want 100 links then I will pay him $100 multiplied by x, but since webmaster tools detects links pretty hard and with a big delay, I think that he would have to do at least 1000 links. And once I reach 100 links in webmaster tools I will release the payment but I'm sure that the number will keep on going.

My only problem is that 100 links from pinterest will not do very much to my rankings, so I would need a lot more, but it would get too expensive. But do you think it would be worth it? Do you think I could rank mns with a couple hundreds links from tumblr and pinterest?

Do not go for it.
Go for the results if possible. It is easy to get link from tumblr which has high PR.
$1 for one link is good but if it doesn't have the quality, then no.
There are many BST Threads here in the forum which offers blogposts from $1

true, but for $1 I can one link (from blogpost) or I can get tens of links because we all know that webmaster tools is not showing all links...

I like to think that if it shows in webmaster tools then google is counting it for something.

Because if the page is indexed, but your link isn't in webmaster tools, then Google is clearly discounting it for some reason, which is great for testing!
