Hi guys, recently my colleague and I were in a discussion about the value of an email list. We have a friend that owns a pet store and he offered to sell us his opt in membership list that is around 10 000 customer info, complete with address, mobile number and name/email. But of course, said friend casually mentioned this, so he did not state a price. I thought we can orchestrate an organized way of advertising our product via their snail mail and mobile number. But how much should this kind of list cost? Factoring in the fact that it has more details than just name/email.

P.s. If we obtain the list, no, we are not going to spam them with penis enlargement ads. Questionable way of obtaining the list, yes, but hey, i thought our hats were black.;)

So it is going to be a one time offer? Or do you want to spam them on a weekly basis?

Do you have experience with email marketing? You have a ballpark idea of what kind of profit spamming this list once (or more times) will bring?

If not I would offer your friend a share of the profits, or offer to make a donation in his name to charity :)

Buy a 10th of the emails first, mail them and see how much profit you make. If they are old/bad leads, don't bother with the rest

Oh sorry, but how much is a fair price for such a list? Assuming 90% of the info are fresh.

Our company Velocity Email Marketing Software can probably provide you a list of better quality email addresses specific to your ideal potential client. Why buy a list that is totally unrelated unless you provide like aquariums or dog training classes. If you are thinking about spending your money on that list you should look into a qualified lead for the same price or less. You can get 10,000 email address for 150 bucks with company name, job title, first and last name, phone number, email address, mailing address etc if you are looking to generate leads make sure your list is specific to your ideal client.
