Paying for a cPanel license? Step-by-step tutorial for a free alternative

I just installed it and I really like it. Thanks for introducing me to VestaCP!

Now, when a VPS is first setup, there are some initial configurations to maximize security like, disabling root access, using ssh keys in place regular passwords, changing default ports, etc.

I'm a newbie and I really don't know where the above fits when you're using VestaCP. Can I do the initial configuration before or after VestaCP? Would making those changes mess with VestaCP installation?

Thank you!

For maximizing security, frequently updating Vesta is really the only thing you ought to do. Moving from passwords to SSH keys is necessary when you have a lot of servers, and we've often found vulnerabilities in this method of authorization. Make sure to have a complicated password (with symbols preferably).
