Pretty cool site I stumbled upon, I'm sure some of you have heard of it. Thought I would share.
It's called pay with a tweet, the concept of it is letting users download a free ebook or any other free incentive you have on your site, in exchange for them giving you a tweet or a facebook post. I think its pretty smart, and would be good for viral marketing. You make buttons and can control the content of the tweet or fb post that is shared.
Check it out

Cheers

Interesting concept, curious to hear if anyone has had success using it.

checkmate, of course. just l like people who sign up to email lists to get ebooks can quickly unsubscribe afterwards, still it is a neat idea

curious if there are any case studies out there

Couldn't you just Tweet w/e then delete it?

Sure, but most people wouldn't do that.

One cool method that I've seen utilized well before is PayForTweet locking
some quality type of content, whether its a webinar, report, or whatever
can be left up to your imagination.

Then, after someone's tweeted your PayForTweet message, with your
hashtag, you then message them/follow up with them with your Twitter
account. There are many tools to automate this, such as If This Then That,
at which point you can rereach out to them. Maybe you ask them what
they thought? Maybe you DM them a follow up product/course. Heck,
maybe you ask them to share it on Facebook. There are a ton of options
but I'd highly recommend it.

Its free, I havent used it yet but will probably use it in the near future. It seems like a good way to get social backlinks, which the panda loves

I have actually made a Tweet to receive a free download before. It's kind of nice because I have a limited web-based tools budget.

There are a few like this, been around a while.

just now building a site I can use these on.

yes, a paywithatweet is truly original idea which becomes a powerful tool in the right hands

i found it on killerstartups back then
it's worth monitoring that site regularly, they're posting 15+ startups every weekday, you can find "killers" like this amongst those which don't hold out, you can also steal ideas, replicate/twist/combine them
maybe offer SEO services for the badly SEOed ones, one thing is common in them: they want to become successful
