Pay Per Rank Services - Any Don't Suck?

Buying SEO services is always a gamble, and to me it sucks that a service provider gets paid if their service is effectual or not. So about six months ago I signed up for a pay per rank service for 6 keywords that would be very valuable to me if I could get them. The service isn't cheap (the most expensive was $600 a month for #1-3) but it would still be profitable. However, after all this time absolutely NO serious movement has occurred, according to their charts they've had my sites pop up to the 50's-90's a couple times for a couple days. So obviously it doesn't cost me anything but I can't do any other linkbuilding to these sites/kw's as I'll end up paying them if I'm successful.

Anyway, are there any pay per rank services with any redeeming qualities or are they all just suck like that?

To put it short, they aren't worth it. They use extremely old SEO techniques and haven't innovated their strategy in YEARS.

There are a lot of "performance" based SEO companies, but the truth is a ton are GARBAGE. Their pricing is usually 5x what it should be, and then charge on some crazy type of setup. What do I mean? I've seen one company that charges $450/mo. for ANY increase in rankings. Doesn't matter if you are in the top 200, any increase they start billing $450/mo. That's just nuts.

Others make claims, then "roll the dice". Meaning they do some basic SEO, like Xrumer or Scrapebox spam and see what "sticks". Some customers will bump to the first page for some ridiculous keyword, and then they'll charge you.

The point is, find a full fledged SEO service, or manage it yourself.

The problem with these services is that they are paying upfront for your rankings, so they will try cheap things(which are frequently the most damaging if they do it wrong), but they usually don't have the budget to do anything worthwhile (plus they run the risk of spending money on a website and having the owner disappear). they are probably hoping something just ranks itself by coincidence, so they can charge you

Meanwhile, you are not doing anything to help your own site - big mistake.

This is just not a good business model for either party.

It's a much better business model for you to pay for work performed, and you, as the owner, should assimilate the risks in your business.

I guess that's sort of where the disconnect is - if I buy say a bookmarks blast, it costs $x, I get a report with y url's, I can check to see if I got what I paid for, and if it does nothing for my SERPs that's my problem. That part's fine but I don't have time or inclination to be doing my own SEO. Probably my best bet is a VA or two who can do it in the way I think it should be done.

Now you are thinking in the right direction. I personally prefer to manage my own farm. If you still can't find time to learn SEO, depending on your budget, VA should be the best option for you. You can contact me via Skype if you wish, I would like to know more what are you trying to rank.
