The scam brewing on that site is something poor response from mods on that platform hence people take advantage, it wasn't a hack something to do with regulations. Don't know if a hack was also part of it.

Due to risk of scams, difficult trading system, limitation customers support and many others, Customers and Sellers lost their trust from Paxful as time goes by.

I've had only bad experiences with Paxful, I would take this as a sign to leave the sinking ship.
