What's your approach when content locking a video?

I would like to make the content locker popup after X seconds. Now, I know how to do this, but do I just let the video run in the background of the locker? Or have you found a way to pause the embedded video?

I could swap the embedded video away while the content locker is popped, but wouldn't that make the visitor doubt that the video would reappear after they fill my survey?

why would you want to pause the video let it play in the background and have the content locker just lock the entire page so only thing that can do is click on your locker or leave

sapo is right. You want them to get anxious because its still running, fill out the offer as quickly as they can so they can go back to watching :)

Be careful because some people open the stream up in a new link and will not care if your locker comes up because they ware watching it on the host website.

I agree, can't see how it matters, but that's not gonna stop me from answering ;) Currently, i'm looking at this one (edit: Can't post links - but the one from crazyflx)

I'm not "code-shy" at all, so i'll make it work for my needs :)

I guess i'm just a bit of a neat freak :) But I guess it really doesn't matter if it's paused or playing. Accelerator_dd's argument is pretty convincing too! :D

I see how some users would do that, but I guess it's always gonna be hard to prevent the more advanced users to circumvent the content lock. They could always look at the source code of the page or even open up firebug.

Can you elaborate on the steps you take to prevent the user from just opening the stream in a new link? Do you just lock immediately?

People who will do that 99% of the time wont fill out your Content Locker, We target those dummies who will do it not those who look for ways around it.

steps you can do to pervent it will only keep the average user out not the one determined.

    but steps are,

    1) encrypt the source code
    2) disable right click
    3) Iframe the actual video, from another page, this just add another layer they have to get through to see the source.
    4) put some fake copy right warning attached to your embed for example

<----- Copyright (c with the circle LOL) your_site, any copy/redistribution/altercation with out the written permission from your_site, will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law --------->
    <embed code here>

just some example I am thinking off the top of my head, could be better precaution you can use out their. See what other have to say here.

Exactly my point (Sorry, I might have been a bit ambiguous expressing this ;)), so I don't see the point in putting an effort in hiding the content further. My question was more directed towards mutatedllama.

Sapo answer your question about how to prevent the bypass of the content locker, aniway just lock after a few seconds the video so the visitor can't open the stream in other page

I think letting the visitor watch a minute or a minute and a half, will make them more eager to fill the survey. Just a thought, maybe i'll split-test to be sure.

Anyways, thanks for the answers ;)
