youtube, because most of them Don't visit your patreon if you are not a girl.
Youtube is more familiar with everyone and supports more payment method.

YouTube membership for sure. You don't want people to leave YouTube from your video. Hurts your youtube channel.

You can live with no membership.
But the most important thing is what are you expecting after subscription?
Do the decision based on that need.

If you were to focus on Patreon, how would you even promote it and be very profitable? I'm curious

Depending on your niche and the engagement level of your community, it may make more sense to build your PATREON subscriber base
I know of at least one Youtuber who has been 'shadow banned' - no longer recommended, harder to find through YT searches, etc etc
He switched to building his Patreon base
Now pulls in 9000+ USD per month off Patreon and still cranking out vids
His vids now are geared towards getting viewers to become patrons
Disclaimer: his niche is geared more towards 'tribalized' viewerships.... so this might not work across the board.
Still, close to 10K USD per month passive is a nice chunk of change for somebody just talking in front of a phone camera for 15 minutes one to two times per week
