I'm sure the answer is here on the site but I'm not searching for the right thing. I need to password protect a directory. I don't need a subscription site just something I can keep people from stumbling into.

If you have cpanel hosting you can password protect any
directory from within your control panel.

i cant post links yet, but have done it with .htaccess before as haheko mentioned.

google .htaccess password protect and it's the first result
