I stumbled upon an expired domain of mine that i forgot to renew a while back since i didn't need it anymore. It seems to be parked, with no content, just a back order link and this payday loan description.

What benefits they get out of the domain with this description? Should it be safe to renew it and used again?

Someone may pay for the backorder and in addition you serve ads to the remaining visitors the domain has (may not rank in Google, but there is always some traffic left via direct links) or redirect the traffic to people buying it. That's the benefit and it's a very profitable business on a large scale, e.g. Codewise, the guys behind Zeropark, have close to 100 employees and their main business is redirecting traffic from expired domains, typo domains, etc.

Are you sure its not taken already by someone else who chose to leave it parked for now?

If it's not already registered and parked by that person, then it should be safe to register it and use it. No need to pay too much attention to the parked history of the domain. Google doesn't penalize for that.

I think it's still mine, i will have to check.
But what about the description? Is there any benefit in the payday loan description on a parked domain?

I would register it quick if i were you if you want it because anyone can search google for description text and take it for themselves.
