Looking into parking some domains and after reading here and reading the terms of some parking companies, why can't you promote and drive traffic to that parked domain? I don't get the reasoning behind it all. I mean, if the site doesn't get promoted, how do people find it to click on the ads? How do they make money? Where is the traffic coming from? Any blackhat ways to juice it up?

...hope someone can shed some light on it so I can get a good nights rest.

For a parked domain, the whole page is full of advertisement, so every click will land someone on an advertiser's website; A promoted parked domain will leave users wondering where is the content at which will cause "invalid" clicks.

So how does traffic find the site?

From my experience parking companies like domains that get type-in traffic or search engine traffic. I have had success in the past by putting a forum on a domain, letting the bots spam the crap out of it, and then flip the domain over to a parked page. Once the domain is indexed and has backlinks you can attract traffic that way.

so like a bait and switch technique.

i like it ill try that with forum generator on a few domains

Parked is traditionally for domains where your site is now defunct. Things that are already getting type in traffic but you're between sites/decided to discontinue your current site. Its not really for brand new domains.

I have an idea to get a lot of domains which may or may not have traffic and I won't have to pay anything for them. This idea is already in the works and will take about 6-8 months to see any money come in. In the mean time, I guess I'm on hold. I wanted to get with a bunch of CPA/CPC companies and make a category database of offers and make my own parking ring but it seems like the companies I apply for are all declining my application. Been in IM for a few years, live in the US, have a good amount of sites across the web but they still say no.

I have 1 typo domain that I have parked, had it a few years now, makes me around $150-200 a year. I guess I should develop it, but I know its a shit reason, but that $15 or so a month it makes, pays for my hosting for my other sites.

Hi,
you may promote your domains parked with BenePark. So if you are looking to develop your domains instead of killing them with conventional PPC parking services, you are welcome!

Why would you want to create traffic for a parked domain? The reason people park domains is to take advantage of traffic already going to the domain.

Parking companies generally accept only type in traffic (someone types in the domain name into browser address bar). The reason for this is because typein traffic from generic keyword domains is the most quality traffic possible, and also parking companies are strongly limited by restrictions from ad feed providers(g00gle and yah00)

You say gain more but looking at your site, you say we can only make up to $30 a month... That seems really low.

For an ordinary parked domain it is much more than with other parking companies. And $30 is no a limit. It is a 90% percentile line.
