It will be interesting to see how this "new feature" will affect the SERPs.

So Google wants to be your search engine and your website. Just another power play that's either not going to make much of a difference or seriously backfire on them. I'm sick of watching them pat themselves on the back and blow smoke up their own asses about how great they are.

They use to be a great product. Now they are an ok product that really isn't any better than half a dozen other search engines. Sooner or later, their ego trip will lead to their fall and the natural order of competition that makes them care more about their results than outwitting everyone else will be restored back to search.

Who said that Google is self destructing itself with all these updates? In my opinion, this is a real step forward in the development of search engines and their usefulness.. After this update, Yahoo and Bing will seem like the keyword-stuffing era in terms of search relevancy.

Btw, the video says it will display the relevant information as a banner on the right side. Where will the search ads go?

And of course they will combine the knowledge graph with everything they know about you. So if you are of college age and they see you are nearing the time of exams, maybe they'll just start popping up term paper ads in you face. At the end of the day, they are not doing this to be nice, they want MORE MONEY, BIGGER PROFITS, AND MORE CHAMPAGNE FOR THE SHAREHOLDERS.

It's not about helping you find what you are looking for. Heck, they even said in the video that they are going to TELL YOU what else to look at that they decide YOU SHOULD WANT TO SEE. Very dangerous territory.

In the end, In Googledom. How many players will there be... Lets see. Amazon because they're rich and have made sure they cant be eeaked out. ebay because thats where you can sell your shitty stuff. Wikipedia because they got something to say about every niche and must come first. Youtube because Google wants to see with its own eyes what the fuck people get up to...

Outside of Googledom will be the opposition guided by Facebook, Microsoft, Yahoo and all the freedom fighters, porn kings, independent sales companies and various religious groups who believe G stands for Anti-Christ.

At this rate of intellectual freedom decay, it wont take that long.

if this turns out to be a huge mistake somebody will take advantage and up their own search engine. This could fail big time or it could be remarkable. From what they are saying though it doesnt look like they have everything figure out and are totally unsure so we shall see....

I'm no Matt or anything, but I'm just trying to see it from an objective searcher's point of view, and yes I know how hectic the serps has been, one of my sites has been kicked from #11 to #250+, but we all knew random blasts were going to get nulled someday, didn't we?

I really don't see any problem with this and I don't think it'll have much of an impact on any of us. Most of the things people search for don't have concrete answers, so it isn't the type of information that they can even include in their "knowledge graph". For example, I own a celebrity blog. On my blog I talk about gossip and all sorts of things like that. They aren't going to start posting gossip on their own website, as it'll impact their credibility. They may say something like "Gwen Stefani is ___ years old" etc, however they aren't going to be including the types of things that attract thousands of users to my site.

In other words, I'm not exactly worried.
