Hey,

After getting hit on few sites, i decided to check Top 10 Results backlink profile.

I saw 2 new sites in top 10 replacing my affiliate and mns site.

I was very curious. Those are new Domains.

Backlink Profile:

They had over 450 Backlinks.

4 Main Keywords - 20% anchor text ratio each...

Balance 20% was other anchors..

Backlink Statistics

100% of them were from some BHW Service, i am 100% sure.

All of them were homepage footer links with DA 55+ and Pr1-4.

NONE of sites are related to what they are linking.

Avg OBL was under 10. (i checked only first 10-14 backlinks).

Is this what panda is about???

P.S. The site was very thin with just 3-4 Pages.

Panda isn`t for links. And yes, crap sites still rank. Pure auto generated content sites still rank.

Cheers

yes i do know that :P

its for content.. but what i mean to say is that it ranks purely based on spun content pages.

those 10-14 links that i checked was powered with crap web 2.0 with unreadable content.

Well, those are atleast the links you were Able to see. maybe the real powerful ones are blocked from crawlers.

Sure, same things still work. Spun content and auto generated content still works. I see the sites still ranking in some niches and even mine still rank (i cloak those and have better conversion than with "quality content").

Cheers

this drives me really mad! Its time to plot a new Strategy.. may be i will start a new journey thread so it will be useful for all.

More important is your site/post structure. If that`s done correctly you can use crap content. With correct methods you can have 0 bounce rate which also show the "quality of your site" :)

Cheers

not sure how thatcan be considered crap links but alright (other than it being footer ofc).

And being thin barely matters IMO, i've ranked landing pages with 200-350 words for 10-40k MS keywords

Lol Panda 4.0 is the funniest and worst update yet. Maybe I'd be mad but everyone, even with natural/whitehat SEO are being shot to the moon.

I think link juice got amped up a little.

It is really hard to tell... on one hand things look like Exact matches matter more and backlinks matter less... or if link juice exists then its effects are more pronounced now... (I know that sounds like a contradiction... but if link juice is up then you need fewer backlinks to rank or higher quality matters more etc...)

Another way to look at my data is that pages that were ranking well are ranking even better now and pages that were ranking poorly are ranking worse now...

Its going to take a while before I figure out what the heck specifically changed. All I know is that I have a mountain of new data to go through.

yeah contextual backlinks should be the best right? but you still see people using sape and other sitewide links with great success.

And my guess is that most of these sites will be non-English?

Backlinks analysis tools are quite limited, often isleading with regards to anchor distribution and all. They would pick most links google would refuse to index and miss out on more important ones that are open to google alone for crawling.

Keep in mind that more and more services block their networks from backlink checkers.

You don't know the whole story and there could be more links than just those.

Regardless the methods you mention will still work and still do work now even post Panda. High PR Links regardless of relevancy are effective.
