Here is the source: http://mashable.com/2016/04/03/panama-papers-global-investigation/?utm_cid=hp-hh-pri#Kx5Q7_kAhuqF

I really wanna know who the fuck is in this, how many people are here. There is an interesting discussion on reddit and simply explained (r/explainlikeimfive): https://www.reddit.com/r/explainlikeimfive/comments/4d8rta/eli5_the_panama_papers/

Really hope this goes trough and people go in jail or something. Some guy on reddit wrote interesting thing:

TL;DR The scary part is that there's not really anyone to hold these people directly accountable, since some of the wealthiest, most powerful people in the world will likely be implicated in this.

There is a thread about this already, but you got the better title (non-clickbait as he other).

As long as it was in the boundaries of law of their countries, I don't really see what's the fuss. I will open a HongKong based company as soon as I hit a certain mark - then I will pay 0% tax on every business conducted with other countries - will you blame me for that?
As long as personal tax is filed, there is nothing wrong with looking for a loophole not to pay tax to the corrupt governments that refuse to work for me and try to limit my freedom more every year.

I searched for a thread like this with search function and word "Panama" haha
Well yeah, but this is probably something that was not legal. Government money, money launder with only they know how much money and more. We'll have to wait to see more details about it. There was a post on imgur about Islands prime minister. Source said that he was in the interview and they asked him about the company that was connected to him and he couldn't answer the question and left the interview room.

Honestly couldn't give a fuck.

Don't blame people for avoiding tax, if I could I would. I'm sure most people would also...

I'm not against tax, it should be a thing. But when you take in the UK's rates (for example) income tax @ 20%-50%, VAT on the money you already paid tax on @20%, council tax, fuel tax, road tax, tv licenses, fucking all other sorts of tax....

When you work it out, you work from january to mid june for free, all this money goes in tax one way or the other. And all they are spending this money on is stay at home lazy fuckers who can't get a job because they are too busy pumping out 6 kids so they can get a bigger house for free.

Fuck them.

Don't you think that the reason you pay so much is just because of the people like them? They were hiding so much money that it fucking hurts the whole damn country. And I know what you mean about tax. Here tax can go high as 55% (or 58%, not sure). And those people who just pump those kids out and live of the money the country gives them. Yeah, it's sad, but it's the world we live in. Maybe if more people paid the actual tax, it wouldn't be so high. In my country they put a higher price on health care because there is no money lol everyone stealing and hiding money.

Nice share actually... there are plenty of websites reporting about all of this... the next chapter will come later today in the TV here.. will see :)

I am so pleased that the little companies I have are registered through a proper chain of shells. A lot of the corrupt players floating up in the Panama scandal are so brazenly, stupidly self-assured. I mean come on, you're a millionaire.
Go give some money to a sick & dying person that does not want to die in a hospice, help them leave this world well, bury them properly and never register the death, use that identity... there are so many options.... Most of these idiots cannot think outside asking a relative or a friend to register a company.

Ikea is a good example of how you should do it if you are thinking about offshore. Shell in a shell, registered properly. The paper trace should lead nowhere from the start.

We've known about Putin for years.. there was a BBC documentary on him and his wealth.

He's stolen about $200 billion from the people of Russia

Wait for it... there is way more data to come... Sueddeutsche Zeitung correspondent was asked why there are no people from the US and he said just that: Wait for it :)
Besides that you should know already that BBC is just a propaganda organ of the 'western oligarchs' so take it with a huge grain of salt.

The sad thing is the people on top do much worse things than storing money offshore. If you look at how US congressmen vote and then what boards they get to sit on after they leave congress, there is a very clear pattern of interest there... Some of them might have money offshore, but as long as they have power, they don't have to worry about anything... And even when they leave the office, the friends currently in office want to be friends because then they can get cushy positions when they leave.

For us small time businessmen, we just have to remember that anything you want to keep hidden, you have to think about the worst possible scenario, which most of these psychopaths cannot fathom.

It's not THAT simple, no. If you are a resident of a country that taxes your worldwide income AND you don't have office/workers on HK, there's a thing called "Controlled foreign corporation" rules which most countries have and it means this: Your tax man will tax your company AS IF it was local.

I'm aware of that, but thanks for pointing it out for others. Ofc we will have our own office and people working there not just a mailbox. Because else the risk is to get backtaxed for the years you pretended to do business in HK while you did not.

Glad to see you've done your research :)

So let me understand. Suppose tomorrow magically all offshore income gets taxed. Let's bet on the outcome of that extra income: a) A decrease in taxation b) an increase on gov spending. Hmm, what would it be... :o

In my country, nothing would change except the money would be changed hands from these guys to some of the top bureaucrats.
