Paid nodes vs free nodes for sniper bot?

Been messing around with sniper bots on Solana and trying to figure out the best node setup. Some people say paid nodes (QuickNode, Triton, etc) make a big difference, others say free RPCs are fine.


Just wondering:


  • Is there actually a big difference in speed/fill rate with paid vs free?
  • Any free nodes that are reliable enough?
  • Is running your own node worth the hassle?

Appreciate any tips — not trying to waste time testing junk if someone’s already been through it.

Paid RPCs are mostly only worth it if you're already a profitable trader in the long-term. Doesn't matter that much if you're in the 'learning phase'.
Otherwise it's just a slightly faster way to gambling.
 
Paid nodes usually give you faster response times I would say and way fewer rate limits. Those that are free can't be 100% reliable, obviously.

Running your own node is only worth it if you’re doing big volume.... I mean it’s not plug and play in that you’ll have to deal with updates, uptime, hardware, etc. But considering that you made this post to ask those questions, don't bother making your own node. Not worth the hassle at all!

Im sniping from the mempool
 
If you’re sniping you’ll need to get your tx through within the same block of liquidity deployment, free/public RPCs usually won’t be fast enough especially since you’re competing with other bots doing the same - so yes, paid nodes are definitely worth it.

Maybe sniping from newer blockchains with free RPCs where there’s less bots and therefore lesser competition?

Well, perhaps - but then you’ll have another issue, which is lack of both liquidity and volume. All major chains that actually have decent sniping opportunities will have a good amount of competitors running the same tools.

Maybe, I will be checking socials to make sure of a good following, I will experiment with the free node with lesser known chains to see if I can get in on the first or second block
 
free nodes are lacking speed means your orders will high probably to late or not getting the desired price anymore

I’ll be interested to know if you manage. From personal experience I can say that usually free/public RPCs will have more latency and thus you’ll get front-run by competitors.
 
its just not comparable free vs paid. I used helius node in the past even paid one,still lack of speed. So i just bought one for a lot of money, and the speed is good i manage to ct in like 0 to max 1 block . But becarefull not all the paid nodes in the market have this speed . Fell free to dm me for more info. + you will need good bot to snipe quickly sometimes even if you have good node and your bot is not optimized it woudnt work

Thanks for the info,and yes any advice on this is appreciated
 
- Use your own node for EVM chains, and swqos nodes for solana. You can setup nodes easily on dedicated servers, not on your own computer ofc.
- If you got no money, some group has node dedicated to snipers. they sometime rent access for cheap.
- if you got money, check bloxroute.
- if you have your own node, run your bot on the node server directly or in another VPS in same datacenter to have the lowest latency
- use a dedicated wallet for your bot, don't use your main wallet

you are welcome.

for SOL, i like Helius nodes, and they have swqos.
for EVM chain, you can rent cheap server at hetzner - Germany to setup your nodes ( just don't talk about crypto to their support ;) ) , but some nodes are faster in USA like for arbitrum or base.
if you are not familiar with linux, you can rent cheap node to getblock, or to more specialized group like moppynodes, supranodes, zmok.
bloxroute is a hell expensive thought but they have direct contact with validators and mev protection
 
Paid nodes are way faster then free (public) ones, using free RPC endpoints will put you in a pool of users that will compete with you to snipe the same liq pair.
