PageSpeed Insights Lab Data Delay?

I'm a little behind on this one since I've been ignoring web vitals for too long. Have a site with CLS and LCP issues so I've been making some major changes to a test site.

Third parties like GTmetrix spot the improvements right away. The performance shot right up and the CLS and LCP went way down into the green. I can see that the site is loading a lot faster and the conversions have improved so that's a bonus.

The lab data on PageSpeed Insights seems to have somehow got worse. The LCP from field data to lab data is now doubled which doesn't make a whole lot of sense with the changes I've made.

Is there a delay on PageSpeed Insights or does Google does calculate this stuff differently somehow?

There's no lag... just yesterday was working on improvements and both pagespeed and gt were updating stats.
Although the stats do differ, which is strange... like CLS, how can it be different?

Sadly if Lighthouse is what they're going on I'm not sure that helps us. :/

Got it as far as 80 for mobile and 95 for desktop. 0.01 CLS but the LCP doubling is beyond me.

/Edit: Now it's gone in the opposite direction. High 90's for both mobile and desktop on Google's own insights but GTmetrix hates my CLS. Guess I'm going with Google.

The data you see in the GSC is a 30 day average so if you make any changes you'll have to wait around 30 days to see the effects.

The lab data is instant using their "low end" testing simulation. In most cases, the actual real world results (aggregated from real users visiting your site on Chrome) will be much better than the lab data results.
 
If you modify your page for speed and if you want the real results, use LIGHTHOUSE report in Chrome

open Chrome Private mode (Ctr+Shift + N)
load your page
press Ctrl + Shift + J
on tab Lighthouse press Generate Report

This report will show ONLY your device and your connection loading, but you can see the progress if you change/improve your page
Make sure your private chrome doesn't load any extension.

gtmetrix.com and webpagetest.org are good too, but make sure you use mobile for testing.
 
Cheers folks. Was a bit of a learning curve for the day but I've managed to get both into the high 90's now.

The site runs better so users are interacting with it more. Better click-through, opt-in and sales for the sites with check outs. Should have done this a year ago.

/Edit: Just noticed my last update was high 80's. Have since got everything 99+

There is almost no delay, as the test data is retrieved immediately.
