Pages with just an iframe on their website - bad for SEO?

This website has some pages that are just iframes. (An iframe for the header and an iframe for the page). I'm wondering if this is hurting their SEO. These pages don't have H1 tags, they don't have content, and there are probably some other things I'm not thinking of.

So, are these pages fine? Should they removed completely? Or, should I deindex them?

Which website?
 
Am i missing something?, they have no formal site structure and no content....so they only have iframes....why worry about SEO?.
 
frames are not loved via any browser/ search engine .

so no it crap .

usally used for hacks and tricks.

iframe is not used in the seo world at all .
 
So the website is mostly not relevant to iframes. However, they have certain pages that are iframes of other pages. The other pages are gateways to make a purchase, for example. They're not trying to rank the iframe pages. I'm just wondering if those are hurting the optimization of the other pages.
 
Avoid Iframe,I was reading the SEO stuff and Its generally not liked by the search engines specially Google.

Yeah but this is the White Hat Section

I would avoid iframes unless you know what you are doing. Using iframes isn't great for SEO but lots of people use them for various purposes, especially some black hat methods.
 
Apologies guys....been a member here for 7 years and never even realised there was a white hat forum....must get back over to the dark side :eek:
 
There could be many things going on on your hypothetical site so you're not going to get a comprehensive response on this thread unless you give example sites. One thing that could be happening is a single page website has an embedded iframe that serves as a browser inside of a browser. In this instance, stay away from anything that has to do with that website.
A second example would be a multi page website in which each page is wrapped by an iframe. There are reasons why a programmer May implement such a site for legitimate purposes and I have directly witnessed Google Representatives disclosing ifames in this instance are crawled and interpreted by Googlebot
I could go on but covering every instance in a hypothetical situation seems pedantic
 
The reason for the iframe is that the website is a reseller for third party services which require that certain transactions be completed on their website. A small portion of the pages are wrapped in an iframe.
 
Since some time google is decreasing the ranking of websites that are using dated technology (this include no mobile friendly site optimization). I would say yes, iframes or on general frames are an old technology that were mostly used in the 90s and early 2000s to provide a more "dynamic" UI. You don't see modern websites using them because there are way better methods to do. So I say, yes it, avoid them. And if you are managing a site that is using them, convert it something more modern. It will be better for the SEO. Because SEO these days not only includes the content of the site, but the website itself.
 
Man, so chaturbate live streaming is an iframe ... Would this be bad? I find banner ads don't convert as well

SEO - white hat and black hat
Going with white hat organic SEO - Avoid the iFrames, after all for white hat follow the giant google rules.
