Pagerank on forumprofiles

Hi!
Tried to search but didn't have any luck so here goes.
I've always been wondering about the PR of the forumprofiles one create.
Say the domains pagerank is 5, is the profiles rank 5 aswell?

nope, any page when you first create it is going to be pagerank N/A which means it won't have any pr. A PR 5 site will spread PR to other pages but it's unlikely a forum profile will ever reach the same pr as the main page. Even then it's going to take some time to get any pr to the forum profile.

That being said, don't be discouraged about not using forum profiles as backlinks. I think they are worth it and do help or they've helped me anyway

But then it doesn't really matter what pr the mainsite has?

Yes it does matter what PR the main site has. The higher the PR the more the site is crawled/trusted/indexed.. so logically putting a link on a higher PR site/profile will get you more benefit than putting a link on a lower PR site.

In my book there are two methods to using profile links;

1. If your out to create lots of profiles in an automated fahion then you will want to create them on a high PR TLD. The power of the TLD will gradually filter down through the site to your profile. Worth noting this may not manifest itself in your profile page gaining PR. It is my belief that regardless of what your green bar shows, a profile link placed on a high PR and therefore trusted site, gives power.

2. Whenever you comment on a forum, generally speaking a DF link will be anchored to your comment back to your profile page. To take advantage of this, comment upon high PR posts thereby creating a PR juice flow back to your profile page. Do this regulary and within a few months your profile page will also accure some decent PR. This combined with a high level and trusted TLD will ensure the link is truly powerful.

takeachance is right on. The more PR a site has the more it can filter through to your profile page by internal links. For this to happen though you need to actually make a few posts in the forum. The closer the forum posts are to the main page the more PR they will pass (hint: sticky's)

No it sadly doesn't work like that, profile links are usually given PR based on the forum index page, so if a profile link is a PR5 link, the forum index will be PR5, your profile will be N/A, usually that'll change to PR0, if you get a couple of posts and get the link juice flowing, you can probably get PR1 easily, the easier way, is simply build 100 profile backlinks, then spam backlinks to your profiles, because the root domain is high PR, getting PR1-2 on a profile is quite easy using spam backlinks.
