Page URL Change and SEO Impact?

This seems like a basic question, but its something I've never actually done before.

I've already published a page and I'd like to change the url for this page. I want to switch from the main kw in url to and LSI version and gage its impact in the SERPS.

There is currently no backlinks made to it as its a fairly new site.

I am wondering if changing the url causes any problems in google? Obviously google will have to deindex and reindex the page under the new url and this will take time.

Beyond that, is there any other issues to be aware that would make me not want to do this?

I think different keywords in url may affect SERP either positively/negatively although not a big factor.
That would be a good experiment to do to better learn about how Google works, and hopefully you'll post the result back here

You can change urls and get google to index the new ones, its all okay.

If you have not made any backlinks yet, then feel free to change the URL

If you are using a plugin like Yoast SEO, then it will automatically redirect the old url to new one when you change the URL.

I've had personal experience with this. I personally think that if you set a permanent redirect to your other URL, and NOT transfer your original URL to another provider ever (Google hates this), then you're good. The permanent redirect should transfer nearly all of the link juice, if not all of it.

You can go ahead and make the changes, especially if it's not yet ranking.

The only thing to consider is that if you don't 301 the old URL to the new one, you will get duplicate results for a while. You will see a drop in rankings until things stabilise but that's all.

Impact in SERPs? That's hard to tell, but trial&error works best for me
