I've been seeing different recommendations for blog and page content length for authority. Some say 500 words is fine. Others are recommending 1,000 or 2,000 words. What's recommended today?

I'm developing content for a business website's pages as well as its blog.

Thanks

The ideal length of a blog post is 7 minutes, 1,600 words

When measuring the content that performs best on their site, Medium focuses not on clicks but on attention. How long do readers stick with an article?
In this sense, an ideal blog post would be one that people read. And Medium's research on this front says that the ideal blog post is seven minutes long.

And in terms of word count, a 7-minute read comes in around 1,600 words.

(A photo-heavy post could bring the average down closer to 1,000. Medium's seven-minute story on ideal post length was filled with images and graphs and contained 980 words.)

Although data is pretty valid (and data provided by BestAdNetworks is great indeed), data can sometimes lie. I don't like picking average numbers and making rules out of them (as Hubspot and other content companies love to do, with that "Headlines should have X characters!" sort of thing).

I'd say the best way to discover the ideal post size is testing. Try making posts of different lengths and checking how your audience responds to it, and then triangulate the ideal lenght. Personally, I don't even pay much attention to post size; I write as much as I need for that subject. Sometimes is 800 words, sometimes is 3000. I'm not saying I'm right by ignoring this, but it worked for me.

It depends on the niche and whether there is enough content available to write posts that are 1600 words long. I believe anything between 800 to 1600 is fine.

Depends on your niche. Don't go for long text people don't prefer reading it. Focus on quality

As for me the best length of articles is that which can give you a possibility to give a full answer for question in title. It can be 300 words (for recipe) or 1000-2000 words for business.

It's depend on your niche. Length is not important but the quality of content is very important thing. Don't write it too long because people won't read it. Just focus on the quality of content.

An average of 1000 words article works great for SEO Ranking.

Check with your competitor articles and write great content with meaningful words either in 500 or 1000. I am always writing nearly 800 words and they rank better for me.

Some other websites that had only 200 words are ranking top than mine. It all depends upon the niche, content, etc.

Recommendations do vary but on my personal experience, anything between 800 to 1500 words blog is good especially if you can manage to produce really good content with that length. If you can't produce lengthy content that has value then don't. It's not enough that you manage to post 2000 words article, it has to be valuable too. Of course, that depends on the niche.

Quantity is not a matter here its all about Quality 500 or 1000 create good quality & unique content. 500 words article is more than enough because people won't like if the article is too lengthy

Length can also depend on your audience. I published 10,000+ words once and it received a ton of traffic and people loved it. Try experimenting and see what gets the best results.
