Page 1 on Google... On accident. In 2 Weeks?

I'm creating this thread trying to make this a learning experience for me, but more importantly everyone (if someone knows what is going on?). Did I just HAPPEN to fall into a damn good niche on accident, or what?

I'm fairly new to IM, but I'm totally addicted to it. I'm more addicted to reading up and learning at the moment, but I have certain properties that I do small tests on before I put my all (money is a factor) into it. I know WHAT I want to do, I know what tools I could use to make this easier, I'm just fine tuning everything so I can set up a blue print so I don't waste money.

Here's what happened. I started reading BHW on the daily a few months ago, and it seems like every time I hear someone talking about something over the water cooler I hit up google, do an in title search, check the comp's backlinks, do some kw research, etc (don't lie, people, you're doing the same shit!) -haha, a little ridiculous, maybe, but anywho I recently caught on to something that I honestly enjoyed myself, endulged myself in it, and decided to create a community around it. I bought a domain on 06 October (2 WEEKS AGO) and build a pretty website. I put zero ads on it, just me posting youtube video's, and writing what i think is best/crap on this topic at the moment.

I had bought ScrapeBox, so I figured to hell with it, why not start applying it even before I'm done with the site completely? So I did. Gained almost 3,000 backlinks. Even thought I compiled a keyword list of relevant keywords to this subject, manually checking a select few URL's a lot had nothing to do with this niche... But here are some stats (ordered in order for 2 different keywords:

Searches/month: 650k+ - 650k+
intitle: 370,000 - under 1k (nice, right?)

I am on the first page for both. And HIGHER on the first one with 370k in title, but I have no idea what the hell I did to achieve this?

Were you just commenting on blogs to get your backlinks?

Yes. Just one or two simple blasts for the hell of it. Was not even trying to rank whatsoever. No link wheels, link tiers, link biscuits, link cakes, link balls, link doughnuts, link ---- whatever... No manual posting, no effort whatsoever. I can see where this might put me close with the kw that only had under 1,000 in title searches (MAYBE, huge MAYBE) but how in the hell am i ranking for such a highly searched kw with such low (damn near zero) effort? Is unique, frequent content really that important?

Not to mention it's really not THAT unique. I have one post that is a few paragraphes long that I wrote, the rest are just posts with YT videos in them...

Also, Adsense KW tool could be lying, because I'm not seeing ANY traffic increase from being on page 1 with 600k+ views.... what gives?

I think this is the case personally. I was aiming at an exact local search of around 6-8000 and built up the site, now the KWT is saying that same monthly search is <10. Some of the keywords I was aiming for were 25k US exacts and now they are barely over 1,000.

Dunno what to believe. Next site is going off a gut feeling for demand and deep knowledge of the niche. Big G's a big, fat liar in my books.

Make sure you are logged out of your google account. Also I always use a couple of web proxies to make sure the results are not for my IP only...

when you use kw tool you have to uncheck broad, and check exact...that should give you a better ideea what you should be aiming for

Could be Google dance, ranking you higher because it is a new domain but then will drop you appropriately.

Could also be that it is biased because you have clicked your link a few times and now it always throws your site up higher as it thinks its a better match for you (this probably is not happening but it is a possiblity)

but what I don't understand is it's not a micro niche at all, it's not something like a 4 slot toaster or some crazy shit, it has a HUGE user base. On twitter #kw has tweets for days, and there are tons of blogs on this. Even my domain (not keyword dot com) outranks keyword dot com for that keyword! "keyword" + "Powered by vBulletin" gives me 3 MILLION results. People are interested in it, and there's definitely a fan base...

Here's the catch... I'm first page on google for huge ONE WORD KEYWORDS, I just hit my record yesterday with 9 unique visitors. What. In. The. Hell.?

I've heard about this "google dance" so many times it makes me sick. Is there a definition for this? Any proof of said "dance"? I have yet to see it.

You are checking while logged out of google correct?

What is the exact search volume? (not broad or phrase but exact)

Logged out, searched on mobile phone AND using proxies, same thing. Exact as in quotes: first kw (ranking highest for) over 6 MILLION exact matches. 2nd, ranking 8th place: a little under 6k matches.

I had this same experience. Created a new site about a month ago for a niche that receives millions of Searches monthly and within 2 weeks I was receiving 3k UV a day and ranking page 2 for my main keyword and page 1 for a ton of other keywords. Last week everything dropped. I don't know if it's dancing or sandboxed but everything dropped the same amount 5 pages exactly for every search.

Well, sir, I'm glad that worked out for you... but like I said, my max right now is 9UV's!! and only 2 visitors from KW searches. The rest are me telling me friends about the site. I have over 1,000 friends on my LEGIT fb, and that's wher the big numero nueve comes from hahaha... still makes no sense to me bruh.

damn i feel you there. thats my biggest hurdle everytime I embark on something new. you really are just guessing with the big G. i wish there was some exact software out there

Log Out of your Google Account, use Ccleaner to clean all the cookie shit out, use proxy, open Google Keyword Tool, search for your keyword, uncheck "Broad" under Match Type and check "Exact". Now see the exact search count for your keyword and tell us here. It must be under 1k or even less since you're getting so low traffic. I'm sure you must be looking the Broad Search Count and not the Exact!

I've done all of this. It's been the same ranking for month's now, I don't even want to promote it just to prove what is going on is whack ass... I haven't danced, I haven't been banned, I am right there on page numero uno for a large volume search term, and nothing is happenin'... more or less a case study by now. If you read all of the replies they're pretty much all the same, which is pretty much the same as the rest of the forum if you think about it, so let's use this and think outside the box and see what's going on? special algorithm restriction or what? very weird.

Personally I think G overinflates search traffic occassionally. I'm no. 1 on a whole host of KW's however I never seem to see the same amount of traffic as what it's expected, even on keywords with no PPC.
