I'm testing out PAD submits using PAD Express. I created a bunch of screensavers, and they aren't related in any way to my keywords.

1) I was wondering how relevant the content must be when you submit it?

2) Do they care whether the name of the program (my keyword) reflects what the program is or does?

3) Some directories require manual review and others are automatic. If my submission isn't relevant, will they remove it?

4) Do they judge whether to accept it or not based on the usefulness of the program?

5) I noticed some directories don't list an anchor text, and may just include your URL; are these backlinks still useful?

6) What are your experiences with PAD submits? Will they help you get some good link juice?

Any other helpful tips will be greatly appreciated!

Also, I was wondering that if I change a PAD file and resubmit it, will the directories change according to resubmission?

I've done PAD submissions heavily in the past, about a year ago or so but left that stuff on the shelf for more useful methods however...

1. What content? Just make a screen saver, tool bar, browser, upload the damn thing.

2. The directories don't give a rats ass what you put in. It's best to use the keyword phrase you are trying to rank for in the PAD file descriptions etc. You know, all those fields you have to fill out when creating the PAD file.

3. Who cares. Submit, is a submit. This method isn't about some kind of quality score or anything. After 1 year, I still see my "software" listed in directories = backlinks. They don't rank high, but they are there. Backlinks is what you want and is what the method is good for.

4. Who cares. See #3

5. Yes, just make sure you name your program your Keyword Phrase, use it in the program descriptions etc. Some listings will be removed, others will remain. It's all good. Just don't rely on PAD subs as your one and only backlink method.

Furthermore, if your URL is "keyword rich" then that helps even more. I always, always try to get a keyword rich domain name as a priority no matter if I have to add numbers, hyphens, or a word before or after to get the keyword(s) in there.

6. Link juice, who cares. PAD submits are good for overall quantity of backlinks. I used to get on average 300+ backlinks from one run. This isn't something you "rely" on. Mix it up with good, quality links and you're diversified. Everything helps, just don't put your eggs into one basket.

I stopped doing PADs just because...my 6 month license expired and i don't know...just kinda forgot about it I guess.

I have a few sites that didn't get any promotion, but PAD submits. This is like, mortgage sites. So software directories to mortgage sites seems very non-relevent, but the links still show in my stats after over a year. I have rankings in Google in top 5, page 1 results for mortgage sites that also rank top in MSN and Yahoo with no content updates, link buidling, article marketing, etc. Will it last? Not sure, but they are sticking with no movement up or down so far.

Guess I should get back on it, eh? Well, I wouldn't do it without a good automated software like GSA submitter or Promosoft.

Let us know if you find success.

Thank you deth_by_uv. Your insight was very useful for me. Rep + Thanks given :)

I submitted keyword toolbars last summer and I saw results in about a week (I used Promosoft). All of my content was scraped and when the new PR dropped I had a PR 2 with minimal work. You could set up a macro to make and submit the toolbars for you.
